AK and Epcot in one day

Thank you, planning this trip is exciting but overwhelming! I kind of wanted to do World Showcase for me, i really don't think my boys will love it all that much. They are the kind of kids who like go and do all day long but then crash in the evening. I am getting to Disney Sunday evening and have a 5:00 flight out Friday. I wasn't planning on doing a park Friday because I hear that the magic express takes to the airport early and at a certain time. I figured we would have breakfast that morning, pack and explore the hotel. Do you think I would be able to get park time in on Friday and is it worth it?

Thanks again

With a 5 pm flight, DME will pick you up at your resort around 2 pm. With that timing, I, personally, would be heading out of a park by noon, so, yes, it's possible to get a half day in at a park, but you would need to be packed up in the morning and store your luggage at bell services so you wouldn't miss your check-out time (or ask for late check-out the night before). It's up to you whether it's worth the hassle or not.

To add to this.. It's very fast to add on another day that morning if you do decide. You don't need fastpasses for most rides at rope drop.. Dont' plan on being int he park, just know it's an option to upgrade your tickets and do 1 last morning at the park.. decide when your getting ready for bed that last night and then really decide when your waking up the next morning (and don't tell the kids until you are sure it's happening).

With kids that are early risers and not late night, my gut is play epcot by ear, get MK done earlier and decide if you really want MK a second day. if you don't, head to epcot and maybe hop back to MK if you finish up there faster or they really hate it. Let the boys play agent P and that will help hold there interest in world showcase. (get fastpasses as if your doing epcot and not mk a second day). decide at the WDW what your doing.

Adding a day on to a ticket has to be done before last day is used. So the decision will need to be on Wed. night.

that is incorrect, tickets are valid for 14 days from first use, doesn't matter if you used all the days you purchased.. as long as your upgrade doesn't make it past 14 days (or go over 10 park days) it's upgradable.. I do this often and it's one of my money saving pro tips to hold back on how many tickets you buy because long stays you probably won't use them all.

Good to know. Thanks.

My family doesn't love EPCOT so 1/2 day would be fine for us there. I would prob split it with a MK day or go to EPCOT for a few hours in your HS day. For what it is worth, my boys who are about your boys ages love HS and AK.

We spent 3 half days at DHS and still didn't do everything my Star Wars loving son wanted. My kids love Toy Story Midway Mania, Star Tours, Tower of Terror, The Great Movie Ride, Jedi Training, The Launch Bay, and pretty much everything else here. My kids are 14, 11 and 10 now but these same things applied the last time 2 years ago and the time before that 6 years ago. Animal kingdom is also a multi day park for us. My younger 2 actually only care about Soarin, The Seas, Test Track and Spaceship Earth at Epcot. Since she was young my oldest could spend all day in the World Showcase but she's never really gotten to.

Be aware though, you HAVE to hit rope drop to do Jedi training. My son is 11 so it was his last shot this year and he got in the very last show of the day. My husband and he were in the gates at 8:55 on a 9 am opening day and beelined to sign ups. They were in line for what felt like forever.
