AirTran????

We flew Airtran for our last two trips to Orlando. Staff was friendly and helpful; plane was a bit dated but clean; flights arrived and departed on time with no issues.

When figuring out your bottom line, be sure to add in the seat charge ($6/pp minimum) if you want seats together. Our flight had dropped in price after we booked; AirTran issued a credit which I used towards the seat fees.

All in all, very happy with them and would totally use again :thumbsup2

AirTran is my favorite airline, and I was disappointed hen they were bought by Southwest. We also loved the comparatively cheap upgrades to business class.

Just flew AirTran from Milwaukee to MCO. Great experience! With our location, we have options to fly out of Ohare, Midway (furthest) or Milwaukee (closest.) By the time we added in tolls, gas and mileage, the added baggage fees were a wash with Southwest out of Chicago.

AirTran also charges you if you want to pick your seat ahead of time. $6 per seat for the non-exit row, non-extra leg room, middle-to-the-back of the plane seats, each way. So thats an extra $24 each for us, which we always factor in when considering AirTran. That being said, I've flown AirTran from Buffalo to Atlanta, Buffalo to Tampa, and Buffalo to Seattle (and back on all) and had good experiences on each. On time, no baggage issues, etc. Sat business class to Atlanta and had great service. Just those darn fees add up!

We have flown Airtran many times over the past several years. However, their flights were so much higher at our local airport that we usually ended up driving to Midway. The only time we ever had any trouble was when we were late taking off from MCO due to weather and missed our connection in Atlanta. We had to get a hotel and fly home the next morning as that was the next available flight.

Since Airtran pulled out of our local airport, we now have Frontier and flew with them for the first time a couple weeks ago. Their Classic Plus fully refundable fare was cheaper than what Airtran had been charging, and it included free checked luggage, free TV, and a premium drink. The seats are 3 across even up front, so it was tighter than when we used our Airtran rewards to upgrade to 1st class, but there wasn't a 3rd person in our row so we spread out and left the middle seat empty.
