Please post how your flight goes after your trip, I have heard some bad things about airtran. :hyper2:

Thanks and good luck

Wow- that's a great fare. I'll have to consider it. The only thing is no advance seat assignments.

They used to assign seats, that changed?? I won't fly southwest due to the fact that it is like a cattle call to get on there with no assigned seats! I usually only fly Jet Blue now, I flew Air Tran years ago and they assigned seats...though since the A/C on the plane didn't work both ways on the flights I haven't flown with them since that! I hear they are supposed to be better now, back then I think they were just ValueJet renamed!

I have flown with them with no problem, otherwise I wouldn't fly with them.

I've flown with them many times and have note experienced any problems outside of weather delays or that type of thing. We prefer their flights out of ROC because they offer a mid-day NS flight and usually have decent fares. You can go online 24 hours before your flight and pick your seats if that is an issue. Another plus is that you can choose to upgrade to business class (on the day of your flight) for an addt'l $35 per seat (based on availability) in case you want the extra space or something.

Karen, thats the positive experience we have had with Airtran. Its United I stay away from since we always have problems flying with them flying in and out of O'hare. NEVER on time! Argh!!

airtran will assign seats at check in (which you can do online 24 hrs prior) for discount fares, and in advance for their non-discount fares. It's not cattle-call boarding.

:cheer2: :cheer2: Got Air Tran non-stop flights from Dayton to Orlando and non-stop Orlando to Dayton for $156 r/t Jan 6-14!! :cheer2: :cheer2:

I've never flown them before, flying them for the 1st time in October. I figure as long as you get me where I need to go safely, I really don't care about anything else. We're only in the air for 2 hours, I can put up with anything for 2 hours!! :)

I fly Air Tran on a regular basis, have for years, and have never had a problem - I don't consider weather delays their fault. I've always ahd an assigned seat before heading to the airport so it isn't like a cattle load or anything.

I talked to my TA today. She said Air Tran was having a web site sale on tickets. I purchased our three tickets in May for $830.

After paying $150 to change our tickets, I now have a $171 credit.

WOW!

After seeing this thread, I booked our January filghts (four of us) on AirTran for only $467!!!! Now I don't have to worry about driving to Florida in winter weather - and 6 hours (airport + flight time) is sooooo much better than 14!!!

Thanks for posting this info!!!! :cool1:

Love those AirTran sales! :cool1:

My DH and I live in separate states (no not confusion and denial :earboy2: ) due to current employment so we fly back and forth on AirTran on a regular monthly schedule.

We have a cruise booked for January and now we got the plane tickets to get down there!

Time to start counting the days. Figure with the money I saved on the airfare I can order more drinks on the ship.

I got tickets today philly to MCO jan 8 -12 $116.00 R/T. I flew 1st time aug 15 cause I have a 2-3 lb toy dog and now I have to take him, he's $130.00 R/T and he doesn't even get a SEAT I would like to book him at $116.00 I got a $15.00 per person credit today cause price went down for oct but still $186.00 oct 19-23 coming home on sun is higher but I have to 2 kids in college can't miss class

We're flying Airtran out of flint Mi, non-stop. Our total price for 4 tickets including all taxes, extra security fees etc. $827.60! I could not believe that price! About $400.00 cheaper than all the other flights that I checked with, plus we get into orlando 9.35 AM! Yee Haa 16 more days!!!

Booked my AirTran tixs today, $93 roundtrip from Charlotte, NC to Orlando. The way we figured it, at that price DH and I would only be paying $50 more than if we drove 10-11 hours, plus a LOT less headaches.

I've never minded flying "cheaper" airlines...I hate it that Vanguard went belly-up. Used to fly back and forth to Kansas for like, $79 r/t from Atlanta.

I booked 3 roundtrip tix from Atlanta today for $124/each! After watching the news about gas prices today I figured we'd spend that much in gas at least now I don't have to spend 8 hours in the van with 3 kids! I think Airtran has improved over the past few years, and hey an 1 1/2 hour flight versus 8 hour car trip, I'll take anything they dish out.

My Dh thinks the for the discount seats offered online you only get the middle seats and a family can't sit together with the bargin price offered on the web.

PLEASE tell me he is wrong......

I can't imagine they'd seperate children from the adult travelling with them. I can't imagine the other passengers would allow it either, I can guarantee nobody else wants to sit by my dd4 for 1 1/2 hrs.

This is what worries me, i would like to keep our family of 5 together.
Also has everyone used hotels.com to book from AirTran? I found their prices cheaper, but i was wondering if there were any problems or if you can still get your seat assignment online?
