Airtran - RAC

We just returned from a week at CR. Airtran is still available there for RAC. I printed our boarding passes and got our seat assigments 24 hours prior to our flight. We took our luggage down the morning of our flight and were able to use RAC, they just reprinted our boarding passes.

Very easy, nice not to have to schlep the bags.

Not that I doubt you, but this goes against what other posters have said about AirTran and RAC. Other posters have indicated you cannot check in online at 24 hrs and also use RAC. Is there anyone out there that can corroborate this?

I am one who asked and was told that this was not allowed--by 2 different CMs. But I never actually went down to do it. Maybe it is one of those things they try to discourage but will do if pressed.

When I printed the boarding passes from the room, had to go down and get them at concierge and they said I might not be able to use RAC since I printed boarding passes. I asked 2 different people at the RAC desk and they said no problem. The morning we left, I handed them my pre-printed boarding passes and they reprinted on a card type form instead of the full sheet of paper. She did say that we didn't need to print them ahead of time, I told her I wanted to make sure we got seats together. She said no problem.

We and our luggage arrived safely in Philly.

We're flying airtran again this summer to POP, so hopefully it becomes a regular RAC airline and we'll be able to use them again.
