I've flown Airtran a few times, but I cannot remember things like this. About how many months out do they usually offer the lowest rates? We're looking at the beginning of May but right now the outbound is still $102 but the return is $79.

We've gotten $49 each way fares before, but are these few and far between nowadays?

We fly Airtran out of PHL all the time.

Usually when I see the $79 fares I grab 'em. The $49's haven't shown their face in quite some time - at least for our travel dates (Jan & May for now). The last time I remember seeing them was for last August.

Don't forget that you don't have to book round trip tix with them. You can purchase the one way leg that is $79 & wait until the other goes down to buy. With the "gas price hysteria" going on these days it might be something you want to consider.

My advice would be to keep an eye on things but I wouldn't wait much longer than 60 days out - have to confess I am a compulsive planner though.

Good Luck!
