Airtran keeps messing with my Flight?

Airtran keeps changing our non-stop flight times around. Not a big deal on the way home. It is just 3 hours later in the afternoon. We will just have to rush to bring the kids trick treating. But our flight down got bumped up by 3 hours. Instead of landing at 540 pm we are now lnading at 840 pm with a 4 year old and a 1 1/2 year old. The only other thing that we could do is a 1 stop flight but the price is a lot higher than we paid. It gets there by 11:00 a.m. Will airtran switch us for free ? The only other thing I'm worried about is the layover is only 52 minutes. When we flew with airtran in April we and 30 other people missed are connecting flight. We had to sit in the airport with 2 small kids for 3 hours not fun. So please make some suggestions.
 
They will switch you to the earlier flight for free. I'd rather risk the layover than KNOW I'd be going home too late with the little ones.
 
Airtran is notorious for changing flights. I think they changed my flights 4 times last time I flew them. While it was annoying, they were very accomodating about changing my flights. Customer service was friendly and helpful and made changes without charging me.
 
When I called them they told me they allow 1 free change each time they make a change to flight time, I have not changed anything yet, still waiting to see how much later they will make my flight....
 

Still trying to figure this out. I'm going to call tommorow. I think I'm headed in the direction of the early flight. This way we don't loose a day.
 
They are very accomodating with changes when they change your flights. On our November trip they cancelled our connecting flight out of Atlanta and we were switched to be taking the last flight to MCO. This was going to be too late for us, so we were able to leave earlier in the day to get there by 7:00 pm. They also allowed us to change our return, the time ahd only changed by 25 minutes. We were able to change it to return the day before, which is what we originally wanted, but was cost prohibitive.
 
Kelly, this very reason is why we will not fly Airtran ever again. We did NOT have a good experience with customer service, we received no refund (from being changed and charged for a direct flight, only to have 2 connectings) and they were very unapologetic about the whole ordeal. We tried to explain that we would be missing reservations, changing our check-in time, we were traveling with disabled persons who could not be waiting in an airport for 2 connectings, and taking 8 hours to get there for a 2.5 hour flight. They changed our flight times and connections 4 times between booking and our travel day. After explaining all of this, the agent stated that it had happened to 40k others that week, due to less people flying, and there was nothing she could do other than cancel our flight. Sooooo we were stuck on a horrible flight, paid for direct despite the connectings in other cities, and sucked it up to experience. We fly southwest and us airways exclusively now, because neither has ever done this in over 20 trips flying there (and they are the major carriers from our home airport).
