Our return trip to Orlando to Indy early October would have to be through Atlanta. Does anyone know Airtran's policy if the luggage is delayed? Do you have to make a return trip to the airport to pick it up or will they deliver it? (We live 2 hours away).

I have had my baggage misplaced or in one case, never found (ATA) by almost every airline out of Indy. I flew AirTran twice and my baggage was on time. I live in Muncie and the airlines have always delivered my delayed baggage to my home. Most of the times the baggage is delivered late at night or early morning. When the delivery guy calls earlier in the evening, I tell him to just leave it on the porch.

We are about 1 hour 15 min. from IND. I fly out of Dayton, Ohio, at times and they have delivered my delayed baggage to my home. Dayton is about 1 hour and 30 min. from us.

Thanks for the info. It would be $180 more for three of us to fly out of Bloomington which is actually closer to home. I guess I can risk a luggage delay on the return trip. Airtran has never failed us before but we've always had direct flights.

Thanks for posting this we are looking into a connecting flight on our return trip in Dec. and we will save TONS of $$$ by flying out of Indy as opposed to flying out of South Bend. I wonder if they would bring the luggage all the way up here though???

We flew direct from Indy to Orlando and back in Jan. Are there no direct flights avail when you are traveling or are you saving $$ by having a layover? Our flight was only about 2 hrs so it wasn't too stressful.

Have a great trip!

SWA, NWA and AirTran all have non-stop flights out of Indy. They are having some very good fares in early Dec. I'm flying on NWA non-stop from IND to MCO for $118.80 which includes all taxes and fees. My dates are Nov. 28-Dec. 5. If you fly on Tues or Wed you normally get better fares.

I'm almost 100% sure they would deliver misplaced baggage to So. Bend. The odds of your baggage gets misplaced are small.

We also are flying out of Indy in Dec-9th to be exact, I live in Mishawaka and hope they would bring it here!
