Airmiles has increases tickets by 800 miles. To 4000 airmiles for adult 5 day ticket. 3750 for child! Hopefully they have another 25% discount coming. Sorry for the bad news

Nope..they have a discount right now...A 5 day adult was 4750? if I'm remembering correctly. That was the AM price for when Disney World did a price hike. They are discounted now. Plus those tickets are now expiring tickets as well. I'll just keep collecting my AM for when we decide to make a trip south ( hopefully late 2018 - early 2019 )

Seriously?? Last year I only paid 2800 airmiles for 5 day adult when they had discount on. Normally 3250. Now there 4750???

I know!!!! That was the Canadian Discount last year. They had a huge price hike earlier this year. I was able to snag a couple of tickets last year ( those ones are non expiring ) But the new ones now expire. Some of us faithful Airmile collectors were a little shocked when the new price for tickets came out.
Good thing is last year, they were able to offer the tickets even when the Canadian discount was over, so hopefully that will be the same way again this year. We can only keep our finger crossed.

Man. Almost not worth being airmiles collector anymore. The disney tickets were only reason I collected airmiles. I can easily collect 8 to 10000 airmiles a year to buy tickets. 16000+ for family of 4 is crazy! In the process of buying a Resale DVC right now to. This is upsetting news to hear.

Math using a 7 day ticket as an example. 7 day base ticket 4500AM (value is 4500/95*10=$473Cdn). Per the WDW website 7 day base (Canadian offer) $349.32US =$450Cdn (using 1.29as an exchange rate)

You are paying the market rate for the tickets, yes, but you don't have to fork over the cash to do so. I like to think about it this way as the airmiles I earn I earn on things I would purchase anyway and I take advantage of the big bonus events when they happen. For me, the tickets I get through Airmiles I think of as free as I was buying those things anyway.

Very true! At least they offer it with airmiles. I will stop complaining. I think I just had price hike shock!!

It is a crazy amount of Airmiles, I agree. I just try to find a way to justify it to myself when things seem to be constantly going up. I found myself doing some airmiles math re flight rewards last week and decided that if Airmiles didn't have the flight I wanted at a certain price I would just wait for an airline sale and purchase the tickets then.

It's a constant balancing act. There are lots of great rewards to be had on airmiles. Sometimes you just need to wait for them.

Don't apologize for venting, that's a major pastime here on these boards and its good to get it out. We all do.

I was not happy about the price hike. For now, I am hanging on to my miles and trying to figure out what else I want to collect miles for. Disney tickets no longer seem "worth it" and I think I will pay closer attention to flights now. Sad because I primarily started collecting AM for Disney tickets. Just got Onyx status for the first time so this is rather disappointing. I'll see how things go in the coming year but this might push me to reduce my air miles activity levels.

YA the main way I collect air miles is by going to Safeway during blue Friday at the end of every month. Get my groceries and collect 600-1000 airmiles at same time. So as long as Safeway keeps doing this I will hold onto airmiles.

I am taking a wait and see approach. I am mostly earning air miles during their big promotions - so Mega Miles and Shop the Block. Also using offers on my Amex, and switching my drugstore shopping from Shoppers to Rexall. Otherwise, I haven't gone too crazy. I don't have a Safeway and Sobeys and Foodland are too far away from me for regular shopping. Also, generally too expensive anyway.

Me too...I don't have a Rexall close to me without driving out of town. It still surprises me that a city of 70,000 has no Rexall :crazy2: So my miles are mostly from Safeway as well.

I think as long as you are not "chasing miles" and you don't go overboard buying things you wouldn't normally, look at it as free tickets. That's how I look at it.
We're getting a DVC membership. So were planing to go every year. I may have to do a bit of airmiles chasing to achieve 16000+ airmiles every year. But I'm prolly gonna have to settle for 2 free tickets and pay for other 2.

This is me. I won't be bothering with anything other than the bigger promos. I spend so much more if I do my regular shopping at Sobey's instead of Nofrills that I am wasting money to get points. I will do the Rexall 100 airmile weekends, Mega Miles, Shop the Block and any bigger Sobey's promos that come along. It will take longer but makes more sense for us.

I agree. You do have to watch what you spend your money on. There are many things that I simply won't buy at Safeway because I can get them for much cheaper at No frills as well. I will pick and choose and plan my weekly menu of meals around what's on sale. I will only shop at Safeway if we have Blue Friday, or a spend 100 get 100 AM. And most of those items even then have to be on sale or something I need. For awhile the AM at Safeway were pretty dry in the west. They seem to be a little better lately again. I'll just keep plugging away to either use AM to get free tickets...or save my PC points and use the " free groceries " and now get disney gc with those rewards for tickets or meals
