Just wondering/ Inquiring minds....................................
Other places/destinations you might be thinking of traveling in the future for a
warm /hot blast to get you through our lovely Canadian winters?

Hugs Mel
We have been really enjoying the Dominican Republic lately. We were there last February again in November and just returned. I think it will probably be our go to for the next little while. Having said that, of course, we have a stay at WDW in two weeks, followed by a Disney Cruise. It’s a little too late to cancel it or I would. I don’t wanna spend any more money in the US than I need to, but that’s a personal choice.

Tinkerone how are you going about booking your trips/Vacation?
Like do you do research online or use a Travel agent?

Thanks
Hugs Mel

The last few years it's been my D-I-L who has done the booking, I leave it all up to her. She researches online, sends me a few to pick from. I sent back to her saying anything is good and she then makes a final decision. Our grandson has a peanut allergy so I like to have her pick out. We have used Air Transit vacations each time and I think that is due to them being less expensive but that's just a guess. Anyways, once she decides and we book I look for a FB group and watch to see what is said and grab any tips or tricks we could use.
How did you like it? We did Dreams Onyx in April and it was great.
We did Dreams Flora twice and I would give that a 9/10 as a resort, 7/10 for food. I didn't think the food was to bad for an all inclusive resort. Dreams Royal Beach I would give a 10/10 for resort, 4/10 for food. It really wasn't very good no matter how you look at it. We didn't starve but sometimes it was.....interesting.
We stayed in the new section of Dreams Royal Beach and I would book again just for that. So calm, relaxing. Our room was right at the pool and drinks were just steps away. Hot tub very close. We had chairs and loungers on our patio but there were tons of chairs and cabanas to be had in the pool area. D-I-L and son had a private pool which they liked but to be honest, it didn't get used a lot. Grandson wanted to spend more time with Poppy in the big pool.
How was Onyx for food?

@tinkerone Food was amazing! So many options at any time of the day. They had beach BBQ spot with jerk chicken, burger, fries, etc.

How old is your grandson? They have a new section with a jungle themed waterpark with 4 slides and amazing lazy river.

Bonus was those 18+ could have full access to Breathless Punta Cana next door and vice versa, including all restaurants. If I was going for more than a week, I would stay at Dreams (cheaper) and have access to two full resorts.

Attached is the huge pool at the waterpark with a stage for pool parties / DJ and then the swimup bar is there too.

Grandson is eight. He does love the waterpark at the other two dreams. I’ll have to look into this one. Thanks for the info.

Looking for hotel recommendations for hotels for Disneyland. It will be 3 adults and one child. (Turning 6 ☺️) We are ok with sharing a room or hotel with conjoined rooms as well.

I am hoping for close enough to to not to have to take transportation to get there.

This is a whole new trip to plan :dogdance:

We've stayed at the Hojo a few times and have really liked it.

We've stayed at all three onsite hotels and like the Disneyland Hotel best out of those three.

The Disneyland Hotel is lovely if cost isn’t an issue. The walk through Downtown Disney to the parks is nice, keeps you in the Disney bubble the whole time.
Otherwise I recommend the Best Western Plus Park Place Inn - Mini Suites. It’s right across the street from the entrance on Harbour Blvd so an easy walk before/after the parks or for breaks in the afternoon.

Best holiday I went on was a few years ago to
Riviera Maya
Area in Mexico.
We did use a Travel agent and I kind of felt better in doing so as there was an occasion where her assistance was need in re booking activities.

Cuba is a consideration also.

Right now I am reading this

https://www.suiteness.com/suites/mexico/quintana-roo/tulum/guides/tulum-vs-riviera-maya#:~:text=Tulum is a more rustic, modern and luxurious travel experience.

We have been to Mexico, Cuba and the DR many, many times. As well as other places. You can very easily do your own research and be FAR more educated than most travel agents. Since that sort of thing passes for fun for me I can give you info on a ton of different resorts in different places. Ask away, I'm happy to help.

Cuba is a great place but you need to do a lot of research before going. You need to understand what you are getting yourself into and also be very selective about resorts. Not all resorts within a level are equal. Different regions can make a difference in things like supply chain.

Tulum....is really nice but it's a loooong ride from Cancun airport. If you can get a flight directly to the new Tulum airport it's great but those options are very few for us.

So we have stayed at multiple motels around DL in addition to all 3 of the DLR hotels and it depends on what is important to you.

Location? Grand California Hotel without a doubt.
Theming? Disneyland Hotel
Combo of price and proximity? Park Vue Inn or Desert Inn & Suites
Cool water park for the child but still close enough to walk? Howard Johnson

As you can see in my signature, we have been to DL a ton of times so happy to help if you have questions!
