Annual Passes for Universal question:

My parents are going to use air miles for their tickets and then on the last day of use, upgrade them to AP and pay cash for the difference.

Can they then apply their AP to their entire resort reservation for any room discounts even though it might be a couple of days before they check out?

No. The hotel needs to be booked using the annual pass rate. It needs to be booked before you arrive because it is unlikely that there will be any available on the day of arrival. The APH rate can be booked before you actually have your annual pass as long as you are able to show the pass before you check out.

and enter your correct info.


If they did book using the APH rate, then they are fine if they don't have the AP at check-in but have it before check-out.

Any reason why they are waiting until the last day to convert the tickets? The date for the APs will still be from the first day the tickets were used (not the APs).

Is Metro still not showing the big bonus miles on the receipt or did mine just not work? I spent $150, had opted in and loaded everything but neither of the big coupons showed up on my receipt.

the big miles from Metro that you see in your app, with the little red shopping bag attached, do not appear on the receipt and usually post in about 2 - 3 weeks, depending on your store.

Dollarama 5x offer seems to be tied to our BMO posting dates based on what I've seen people reporting (could be wrong on this)

last weekend's 30x offer I'm expecting will take a fairly long time to show up. Airmiles promoted the heck out of that, I listen to a Toronto radio station and from noon Thursday until end of day Sunday every single commercial break included the speil about it being the biggest multiplier of the year.

can i get a quick tutorial on how to use cash miles for gas at Shell?
do we swipe our CAA card at the pump to get the discount for that, then the Airmiles card and then pump?
Will we need to go into the station to pay with miles or is that an option on the pump?
or can we just pump and then go into the station and use all of the cards?

Check your Shell offers! There is another one for September (30L x 3 = 50 miles, add a fourth get 100 miles)

Only once, in the many times I upgraded tickets to APs at Universal did Guest Services date my AP from the day I updated. It MAY happen, but it isn't supposed to.

One other thing... I have never been asked to show my AP when I checked in using the APH rate for my room at Universal.

Shell will prompt you on the screen
First swipe CAA
Then swipe Airmiles
Then swipe credit card

Sorry I've never paid with Miles , not sure of that process.

I have sometimes just gone into he store and done everything in person ,,works better for me.
I just have to estimate the gas cost

I dont have CAA but I pay with miles at the pump. I use my bank card first, choose how much I think $30 L will cost plus a bit and authorize for that much, then swipe AM card and it asks how much I want to use in miles. Then I pimp the gas. I believe the CAA card would go first. And I authorize the card for the full amount, say $60 but then use $20 in miles, it goes to the $60 total but of course I only pay the $40 from my account.

I believe you can use the Shell app to do it as well but I never remember to use it and always have to log in and it takes too long.

I just did a big shop at FreshCo. Went around the store with my calculator to make sure I made it up over $100. Got to the cash handed over my Scene card and paid for my groceries. Looked at the receipt to make sure I had received my 1675 pts and all I had was a message that I could have earned... Went to the Express Cash (which is customer service at my store) explained the situation... someone had to come from the office... explained again... they wanted to see my app... finally added my points for me. I have the receipt. The game never changes. We always need to be checking and making sure before we leave the store.

I've had good luck by either calling the Scene program or submitting a note about missing miles through the app. They've added the points every single time.

Gah I hate shopping online with Air Miles. Shopped at
Amazon for a bird feeder over $30. Made sure nothing was in the cart. Made sure I didn't shop through the app. Made sure I had signed in properly. No miles. Bleh. That was Wednesday. Should be something by now since item has shipped.

Anyone in Saskatchewan able to get airmiles from Dollarama yet?
I went to my local store last night and the clerk looked at me like I was crazy, said they knew nothing about airmiles. There was also not one bit of air miles signage there. I cut my losses and walked out without purchasing anything. Just not sure if I should bother trying a different location over the weekend.

As already mentioned it’s a cardlink offer. I’m in Regina & last weekend for the
30x promo I picked up a $50 Disney gift card at dollarama used my linked card & the 10 airmiles posted last night. Just waiting for the 30x to post now.

Off topic question about compression ankle sleeves, if any of you have worn:

I bought some for my achilles tendonitis (recommended to buy by physio) for when I play soccer. I measured my ankle and bought according to the measurements. How snug should it feel? My MIL wears compression stockings and she says it should be a bit hard to put on. But I think a full stocking would be different to a sport sleeve, no?
