Trying to plan my february 2003 trip to Orlando/DW. I have been watching for flights since August and the prices continue to stay high. Last year I purchased my tickets in September. I'm surprised I haven't seen any movement yet. I'm looking for flights from NYC to Orlando. I usually pay around $180, last year I got $147!!! So far this year, the best I've seen is $215. This is for President's week. Anyone else finding this to be true?

have you tried jet blue? they fly out of JFK. also southwest is having an awesome sale thru march 8th. they fly out of islip/macarther out on long island.

Yes, JetBlue is the cheapest out of JFK but they're still $215. Southwest is $350 out of Hartford. My problem is that I'm traveling during President's week but I have usually secured good fares when I shop early despite this week. Still trying.

You may want to try Travelocity or any of the other web travel sites. In Sept. I received a farewatcher from Travelocity and got a price of $128 to Orlando or Ft. Lauderdale rd trip. With taxes $151.50. I am visiting family in Ft. Lauderdale this time and got tickets for Dec. 24 -thru Jan 4. You have to be ready to purchase they go very quickly.

I've used Travelocity in the past but I like the Orbitz web site now. Again, lots of good deals out there, just not during February.

I know this won't be much help, but trying to predict when and how fares will change is like trying to pick a winning lottery number.
I just flew to Dallas recently. I had been watching the fares online. he fare was consistantly $266. I even went out 3-4 months .. $266. Called the airline to confirm various dates .. and guess what .. $266. Well I said, I better just bit the bullet and buy the tickets because I assumed as the date get's closer, it just may change for the worse andnot the better. Well I logon to American Airlines web site, get the flights I want (I already knew beforehand) and BANG!!!!! $216. The price dropped by $50 to my great surprise. Go figure?

I just had a pleasant experience with Airtran, so I'm a fan. For the moment.

At their web site, I put in February 15/21, just for kicks. The trip to is $159, the return trip is $119. I'm assuming the trip to is during Presidents weekend, although I don't have those dates with me here. Moving it to Friday or Thursday ran the price way up. So either with Airtran or probably others, playing with the departure date will help. Don't bother with Southwest. Tried the same dates, they have great prices, no tickets.

My understanding is that President's Week tickets sell fast so don't wait too long. My friend flying from Boston bought her tickets a year in advance and by this point in time the flights she wanted had booked up!

Spirit airlines has a $175 flight out of LaGuardia. Can you drive to Newark or fly in to Tampa maybe? You might get lucky if you can be a little flexible on the airports. I've seen low priced fares out of Islip recently. Try there too. Good luck!
