I am not a fan of onions in most forms. I like the soup with everything but the actual onions, LOL. The way my mother in law makes it and she puts the bread (a sliced baguette or but croutons) and whatever cheese she is using and ladles the broth in each bowl so I just scoop only broth into my bowl straining as many onions as I can into it.

YES!! I love a melty, gooey, salty French onion soup!! Needs to have high quality cheese and homemade beef stock.

My daughter is vegetarian and made an amazing French Onion soup without beef stock.

I like it but don’t often order it at restaurants. I find it a bit difficult to eat, trying to cut through the big mound of cheese on top using a spoon.

I just have this thing about anything with the word onion, so I really won't eat it. Yes I know they sneak onion into plenty of things, and as long is it isn't pointed out, I can deal with it. However, if you put it in the name, I will avoid it

That said, I saw something online just the other day talking about "butter rice". I remember it was some kind of thing back in the day where people made something with french onion soup, butter, and rice. I did taste it, and it really wasn't bad, but I let the name of that one ingredient cause me not to eat it.
