Hey, DISsers! Quick airline security question: Can you have buttons and/or pins on your carry on? I know they can be considered a bit sharp and I've never had them on my carry on before. I just want to make sure that they won't get confiscated. TIA!!

Moved your thread here where I think our experts on this board can give you some great solid information.:goodvibes:goodvibesDanny

Always pack your trading pins in your carry-on. They are way too valuable to put in your checked bags, and risk loosing. I have never had the TSA agents bat an eye at them.

I also use a great tip I found here and put mine in a zip-lock bag. That way I don't have to worry about them becoming tangled, or the backs falling off and getting lost.

yes you can but a word of advice pull them from your bag and put them on the scanner seprate the mass amount of metal will set stuff off
how do i know i had my pins in the bottem of my carry on and when we went thru secrity in green bay they had to pull my bag apart it just so happened that i was the lucky random first flight of the day person to get picked for extra screening too

I pin them on my bag. Should I remove them from the outside or is it okay because they're visible? Oh! And they're buttons not pins (in case that matters!)

I would not put them on the outside, they could get pulled off accidentally.

Update: I went with the buttons on my backpack and everything was fine. I did not leave the Disney ones on my backpack for fear of losing them (as some of you warned- thanks for the advice!) I just kept on the ones that aren't that important sentimentally. Thanks everyone for the advice. Much appreciated!
