Anyone know how much recourse someone has when their flights are drastically changed?
We booked flights for December, about a month ago. Since then the times have changed a few times. I just now noticed are flights are gone. We now have new flights that are connecting flights both ways, and will be arriving at our destinations about 8 hours later than we originally booked. If the time isnt bad enough, I totally panic during take off and landing. That is why I was willing to pay extra to have direct flights. I dont want to do it more than I need to. ARGH!!!!!!

You can call and complain and escalate it through supervisors. The flights will likely be flip-flopped again before December.

I hope the airline still operates flights on the direct route that you are wanting. If so, then they should be able to list you on it. Be prepared for a struggle though. Airlines don't have the best record for customer service. Be firm and ask for supervisors.

I've had that happen more than once (usually only happens when I book way in advance) and I have just called the airlines and got them to change them for me. I usually go in with what my two next best flights are that I would like and either I've been lucky or they do this for drastic changes... I've had them change. Last trip, it wasn't a drastic change but I was upset when they canged me to an earlier leaving flight that got there an hour later... so I had them change that one for me to a later leaving flight that got there just a hair later than originally planned. So I'd call and try to see what you can get them to do. Good luck :)

That happened to a friend of mine at work. She was going to have a five hour layover and was on her way to go on a cruise. When she called to complain about the change they offered to change her flight. They didn't offer any better times though, so she was able to get them to refund her money and she found a much chearper direct flight on another airline.

If its Delta - call them and tell them that these new changes are unexceptable to you and what are your other options - I'll bet they tell you they will refund your money. Other airlines - I don't have a clue - GOOD LUCK!
