Airline employee discount rates??

I read at the end of one of the recent threads here that DCL offers airline employee discount rates. Is this true!! Where do you look for them? The post I read stated that the airline employee upgraded a Cat 12 gty to confirmed Cat 5 for $81.00!! WOW I booked a Cat 12 gty for Oct 2008 and there was no mention of airline employee discounts. Any input?? Thanks!

My BIL works for NWA. He has been calling DCL daily for a month. You can't do it through the TA. DCL handles it directly. If you are booked with a TA, they should have no problem releasing your reservation to DCL so that you can take advantage of the discount when one becomes available.

They just finally got a discount yesterday but were still deciding. On the 9/30 Wonder, it looks like only Verandahs (I guess Cat 5) had the discount. For them it would be a net increase of $200 to go from a 12 to a 5.

If you call and get a "no" for your sailing, just keep checking. They usually open up closer to the cruise. When I got my Florida Residents Rate last week I had a feeling that their rate would soon follow. It did--about 5 days later.

I am retired airline but booked one once through an Interline TA. They will be able to help you. My best friend is still active and is registered with a bunch of interline sites and they sent her emails all summer about great rates for the Med cruises. I don't think they offer interline rates for all cruises but the off season is a great time to get a great rate. All you have to do is get a letter of verification from your company.

I am an active airline employee. There are lots of discounts but when I checked with DCL a few years ago about a discount I had to wait til something like 60-90 days out to get it and there were no guarantees. I got an awesome rate without my airline employee discount at the time. As the previous poster stated, there are lots of airline employee travel agency related websites out there with great rates. I can give you some if you PM me.

My Dad is retired from the Airlines and he gets e-mail from interline.
We didn't book the WB Transatlantic because they usually don't offer anything until right after the 90 days before sailing.

My sister and her family are on the cruise and we wanted to make sure we got on it. I am so nauseaus at what the interline rates are and what we paid.

Like the previous poster posted they due have good deals but you to have to wait at the last minute.

One time my Dad waited for an Alaska Cruise and didn't find out until 2 days before that it was available.

We've been watching cruises lately with a few of the interline travel agencies for our vacation in October. These are the only agencies that can sell the "interline" rates. There have been some specials through the summar for the med cruises. I can tell you definitively, though, that the September deals came out on August 9th. Disney releases their rates very close in, with little exception.

What I've found with DCL interline rates is that you have to be willing to go and pay full price with DCL if you need more than 30 days notice. Generally they don't release interline rates until 30-60 days out, but if you are booked, they will either issue room credit for the difference or charge you the difference, depending. I have worked with interline travel agencies in the past, but honestly, I prefer just to do it myself...

Oh, and FYI - Disney World also offers airline Employee rates. They have a much, much, much larger window of availability and often you can get 50% off of rack rate (which is better than an AP discount). I paid $55/night including tax at AS Sports in May.

For all of these discounts, remember, you most likely won't find them during the summer, over holidays, all the usually busy times.

So If I understand this correctly. If you book directly through Disney be prepared to pay full price. When the interline rates come out and they are signicantly less you can transfer the ressie to interline if you qualify to use interline.

I know this wont' help me but I work with someone whose kids are begging to go on a disney cruise and her husband is an airline employee.
