Hi

I know when I check in for my flight at home/work for my flight to Disney, if I have overpacked (like I usually do) and have to pay extra luggage fees I just do that while I'm doing my online check in.

If I use the resort airline check in for the trip home, will they be able to do this for me (of course I'll give them my credit card info to pay for it)?

We are flying Jet Blue. First bag is free but somehow I always need more.

Thanks
Noreen

There seem to be conflicting reports about this. Generally speaking, you will be given a notice, the day before you are to check out, that gives you your DME pickup time. It also has a number to call to pay any luggage fees. You would give them your flight info, and your credit card number, you would be charged the baggage fees. THen you have a confirmation number to show the RAC people the next day so they know you have paid the appropriate fees.
But....some people have reported being able to pay the baggage fees when they get to the RAC counter on their departure day, when they check their bags. That wasn't my experience last month, but it may be slowly changing. I would be prepared to make the call the day before, unless you find out otherwise. You may want to check with the RAC people when you get to your resort.

Hi Diane

Thank you for the info, but I'm sorry I don't understand one of the abbreviations...what is RAC?

We aren't using DME but will have a rental car. I was planning to check my luggage through to the airline at the resort when we check out so all we're lugging around that day is our carry ons in the rental car rather than our whole slew of luggage.

Thank you
Noreen

Can you do this? My understanding of the resort check in service was that is was similar to pre-check in via computer from home. They will provide the computer service to check you in & print your boarding passes but you still have to take your bags yourself.

Am I mistaken?

You can. As long as your airline participates in Resort Airline Check-in, you can check your luggage through to your flight in the morning (meeting all the conditions, of course, including but not limited to at least three hours prior to flight departure and between 5:30 AM and 1 PM or so, i.e. the operating hours of the RAC counter).

Also, it should be noted that RAC is the equivalent of extreme curbside check-in - just that the counter is thirty miles or so, instead of 30 feet, from the terminal :). Given this, it's appropriate to tip - because the people at the counter are the equivalent of SkyCaps.
