Airfare Tips?

We are planning are second cruise for 09 and was wondering if anyone had any good tips for getting cheaper airfare.

We are not what you would consider "frequent flyers"...so any tips would be great...TIA

I do not have any great tips. I watch the cost go up and down and up and down. I look at the airlines I travel with all the time - then I check cheapair.com as well. It is a gamble. Some wait till the very end others do not...

I booked my midwest trip a year ago - (we leave in july) and got the cost of 525.00 roundtrip ( we are gone 20 days ) our friends booked tonite - same trip and got 595.00...so hard to know...

I will be looking in a year for my trip - MHT to MCO....

since your trip isn't untill '09, pay attention to the air fare for '08 for the time you are going. Check multiple carriers every thursday. Fare release wednesday if i remember right.

Then right down the best fares and worst fares and the carriers and their times.

Then try to book a fare like that when the time comes for '09.

but you have to be just as vigilant in '09.

I booked in october of 07 for my jan '08 trip. My exact flight has gone on sale twice. The first time, we saved $100, just this last weekend, another $200.

That's $300 in reduced fare i would have missed had i not payed attention. The family now flys for $600 not $900. Thats a big deal.

I would download Ding from Southwest

It sits on your desktop with your preference of airports, and dings you when a special comes in. I have seen some AMAZING deals..
