Airfare Rates in December?

How airfares in December? DH & I are planning a December 2006 trip, probably 12/12-12/16. I'm hoping to fly SW again, and I know the rates won't open for that for quite some time.

Am I am for higher rates since it is December? This past trip in Aug we paid around $125 round trip per person. I'm trying to figure out how much we need to save.

We're looking to fly 12/23-1/2 and we expect to pay more since that's around christmastime but we're finding $365 rt! That just seems a little excessive to me.. I'm hoping things fare (no pun intended!) better when SW releases their prices.

I have found RT airfare of about $160 with taxes and fees for early December this year.

I'm going to budget for $200 rt per person and hope we can find something. I checked USair for our dates for this year and got around $158 so hopefully we will luck out.

I booked December 2005 the same day SW opened their dates. I got $115 RT from Midway.

i have noticed SWA is booking only through 12/12. any guess as to when the remainder of the month will open?

I got Jet Blue for $59.00 each way. We caught a sale and saved a bundle.
