Airfare in December, please help!

Airfare for Christmas time and New Years time is very expensive
Looking to travel December 18 - December 23 or December 30 - January 5/6
Would love any tips/ideas on how to find affordable airfare

You won't find any bargains. If I were traveling over the holidays, I would have already purchased my airline tickets. Don't wait too much longer to buy.

I agree don't wait much longer to buy, we are traveling the same times as you and just booked our flights last nite. Fare increased over the last couple of months wish I had bought in July... Oh well still excited about going back to my happy place!

I started a thread a month or so ago, asking the same thing. The tickets have dropped slightly for me but not nearly where I would like to see them drop. We went at Christmas time in 2011 and I checked my notes from that trip and I purchased plane tickets about mid September. I'm hoping to see them go down here in the next week or two. If not, I guess I'm going to have to bite the bullet and buy them. I hope yours goes down for you soon, too.

Sorry. That time of year is super expensive. I just booked our flights on miles and they were the most expensive level. We never pay that much bit Delta has been like that for weeks.

Forget the time of the year the prices are beyond reasonable. Don't laugh but there really should be investigation of what the hell is going on with pricing. I'm all about capitalism but these increases make Cash Advance places look reasonable! If I were in a purchasing window I would drive down or take a rental car and fly back.

I booked when window opened and got $224 per person round trip and the prices had doubled since then and more. Price is now almost $1600 compared to $672 when I booked for 3 people.

I just booked 2 weeks ago and got rt for 168. 00 per person, I just kept checking jetblue everyday till I saw a good price and finally found one. Just keep trying.

I bought on Southwest 4 weeks ago when I happened to catch flights Dec 20 the to Dec 27th. $112 each way. Buffalo to MCO. I was very happy. Last year DEC 23 to Jan 2nd I payed $102 each way. Flint to Tampa. March we are booked at the resort mar 9 to 21 and flights home are insane. Looks like we may have to do the 24 hour drive.

Where are you looking to fly from? SW had some flights drop the prices for Xmas but they were from Flint and Buffalo.
