Seen on CNN just a few minutes ago that airlines WILL be raising prices effective May 1st because of the rising cost of fuel-----I need to get my boy's tickets NOW!!!! Anyone else going to jump on this bandwagon?

I figured they would go up again, thank goodness I didn't wait to find a cheaper flight.

I'd been holding off because I've been waiting for confirmation from my ex about my oldest son and whether or not he'll be in summer school before I bought the tickets now I'm just going to buy them and hopefully be able to use them later on down the road if my son can't come!

That was definitely one of the reasons we booked this past Wednesday on SWA as soon as the new dates opened. Just the waiting game for the dates to open up was so stressful! DH and I are both glad it is all booked and paid for. Of course, the price for nine RT tickets was more than we had hoped to pay. :faint: Yet with the free dining at Disney for all nine of us, we still came in under our original trip budget. Just happy the waiting game is over and happy everything is all set now. Disney, here we come!! :cool1:

I'm hoping my ex will let me know tonite so I can get the tix---I'm afraid to think what the price will be if we do wait till after the first because right now I'm ready to have a cow!!

if you watch the rates for JETBLUE

When I bought my tickets about 2 weeks ago on JETBLUE they cost me $89 pp from Boston to ORLANDO in Sept and then $129 pp return Oct 1st. Been checking just about everyday then three days ago the return flight dropped to $89 pp return so I called them and they credited the difference to me. Yesterday the return went back up to $109 and then today the flight from Boston --> Orlando went to $114 pp and the return flight to $134

It pays to watch and call daily.

The Airfare game gives me a headache

At least on SWA (and on other airlines, I'm sure) you can make the reservations and have until midnight the following day to pay. Don't know if this can help you at all-just wanted to pass on this info in case it could. ;)

Thanks to some pixie dust.......we booked Jet Blue 2 nights ago for $788 Round trip for the 4 of us.( Lga- Mco) and I just checked same flights are up to $908!!

Airtran raised their prices $5 per each way some time today. The flights I have been looking at were $104 and are all now $109, so they are ahead of the game.

They have actually gone up $10 in the last 4 months or so..... that is each way...

Oil closed over $75 a barrel today. I think I would be a little nervous about waiting for better fares!!!

SWA keeps going up. I used to be able to get anywhere from $115 to $155 round trip. Looking at today's prices, those were such a bargain. Can't believe regular gas was $3.15 today!

I am going to hold out a little longer. I figure people are not going to pay the high prices so airlines are going to have to lower their fares at some point.

Actually, the airlines have another option: Decreasing service. Cancelling flights, terminating service to/from smaller cities, and retiring older, more expensive-to-operate (large) aircraft in favor of less expensive-to-operate (small) aircraft. They have been planning to do these very things, to address the negative net revenue numbers they've been posting -- this will just prompt them to do so even more so.

The airfare game is giving me a headache too.

We have vouchers for $200 off our tickets (because we agreed to give up our seats). I just had DH book our airfare with those for next March's spring break because this whole up and down thing is making me dizzy. The price was $279 round trip with $200 off, so that is just $79 round trip. I can live with that. We had "hoped" to get our tickets free (this year we paid $198 round trip per person), but I watched for months and saw the prices go all over the board (up to $500 and more for the same flight we took) and I can live with this price. I knew someone who paid $350 round trip this year for spring break and that was flying Wed-Wed (had to take her DD out of school early and that made the trip more complicated).

Now I need to stop looking because since I booked prices are sure to come down and then I will kick myself. :smooth:

AAARRRGGGHHH My ex is killing me---I've tried repeatedly since Thursday to talk to him and I've yet to get a call back----I to have watched the prices just about everyday because there will be 7 of us flying to and from Orlando---DH went to the airport on Wednesday and bought both my boys tickets for the WDW part of the trip even though we're not sure my oldest will be coming--we figured better safe than sorry--So we are all on the same flight and the counter person assigned us seats since there will be 5 kids----Now I just need to find out if DS14 will be coming to KS so I can get his and DS11 RT tickets from Mass---Which on most airlines is trying to break the bank!!

We had to cash in a flier mile ticket on United, but the 3 OOP ones totaled $609...then $5 fee for flier ticket. Other wise, we would not have been making this trip. I usaully need to be under $3000 for a 10 day trip for 4 ( now all adult prices) Thanks to free DDP and CSR, we are just gonna make it.
I don't think we could drive for much less than $600 from Chicago as we stop overnight each direction.
Westjones...even tho you were hoping for free...$79 is wicked great. If it allows you to still make the trip and not go into debt, it's all good. I agree, stop looking at fares! I am still on the hunt as I need to fly n June to Ft. Myers to hopefully pick up my mom and her poochie to bring back here for thesummer...I have enough miles on AA for 2 flights, but everything is a connecting flight and flying with a dog, my mom can't do connecting...even a non-stop will be very stressful healthwise...however, I keep telling myself that dividing the $614 between 4 tickets comes to about $153 RT per person...you are 1/2 of that...take it and run!
