We are trying to talk my 80+ yr old mother-in-law into meeting us at WDW for the Flower & Garden festival. She is not comfortable with traveling. We are flying in from another part of the country and can find her non stop flights that get her to & from MCO within 30 mins of our flights. However, I am not familiar with Air Tran as it does not fly into our town. It sounds like it is similar to Southwest. Comments?

MIL is in great physical shape (I should be that good at 70!) So there is no problem with her getting around except for her fear of Travel. So we are going to have to convince her it's as easy as driving to the grocery

I have always had good experiences with Airtran, their customer service has been great. They do change their flight times periodically, I generally check their website each Sunday prior to my trips to make sure my flight has not changed.
They differ from SW in that you select your seat when you check in on line, so you do have your seat assignment prior to boarding the plane. If your mother in law does not have access to a computer, then when she checks in at the airport she will be given her seating assignement.

We've flown with DH's legally blind aunt who was in her late 80's on Airtran several times and they've always been wonderful with her. Based on our observations, they've always been very accomodating of elderly passengers travelling alone.

My 87 yr. old mother has flown on Air Tran from Indianapolis to Sarasota, FL the last 3 years. It's a non-stop flight and they have been great to her. When you make the reservations let them know her age and they will make sure she has a handy seat assignment. This year they let my mother sit in business class without an extra charge.

Yep, AirTran is IMO the best value carrier out there. I consider them a cut above some of the legacy's these days
