Prices seem to go down for Aug/Sept and I haven't seen anything like that this year. Starting to think I should just book now and get it over with. :(

If you can find a price you are comfortable with I'd go ahead and book. I go to WDW several times a year and I've noticed that airfare is just alot higher this year than what I'm used to paying. I pretty much always have a trip or two in the planning mode, so am always checking airfare. For my Sept and Dec trips airfare has been running around $298.00-$400.00+. Two weeks ago when Southwest put their fares on sale, so did American. I was able to grab fares for $270.00 for my Sept trip and $245.80 for our Dec trip through American. They stayed at those prices for several days, before jumping up again. I just checked and the exact same airfare for my Sept trip is now $298.80 and then $413.80 for our Dec trip. I'm glad I grabbed them when I did.

The same thing happened for our May trip. About six months before the trip, fares dropped down to around $270.00, so I grabbed them. I then checked pretty much daily just to see what they would do. They never did go down again. Fares used to drop a couple of months out, but they don't seem to do that anymore. Prior to the last year (maybe 1 1/2 years), I never paid over $200.00 r/t, but I think those days are now long gone.

We are travelling in late August (the 23rd to the 31st) and purchased our airfare in mid-January. We paid $1000 for the three of us (non-stop via JetBlue from SYR).

The same flights today are $1500+ :crazy2: .

We found the same thing happened last year.....by the time our travel dates drew near, prices had (in some cases) doubled. I would buy as soon as you find a price you are comfortable with paying.

Prices haven't dropped at all this year. We are flying roundtrip to Florida twice, once in July and once in August. Tickets for both trips were bought as soon as bookings for the dates opened up. I regularly monitor the prices to see what they are doing to see if I can get a refund and none of them have dropped at all. All 4 flights are significantly higher now than when I booked.

We booked airfare for our October trip back in March, and were glad we did because the same flights have since gone up significantly. If you aren't particular about your departure time, you may find deals as you get closer to your trip date...but there's always an element of risk attached to that. You can try signing up at airfarewatchdog.com (it's free) for alerts when flights in your area are at decent prices. Personally, I'm always afraid of not having my plans solidified...so like a PP said, if you find a rate you're willing to accept, you may want to lock it in.

I booked for $214 RT out of DC today. The most expensive we have ever paid. The cheapest I have ever seen this year was $197, even months ago. I miss those $49-79 one way fares :(

Prices for airfare this summer are extremely expensive. Tickets for August are very unlikely to go down in price; you would have found the best prices months ago. Don't delay any longer.

ME TOO! I lived the $69 SW fares out of PHL...

I had been checking Jet Blue daily for a drop in price (for my return flight) and today it happened. I was getting worried that I'd get stuck paying $2000 for our airfare but I booked today for around $1500.
Just keep checking and when you a see a price you are comfortable with, book it.
