Has anyone ever brought an air mattress to place on top of the studio pullouts? I believe BC studio have a double/full size pull out . Thinking of bringing a thinner air mattress to make that more comfortable. Thoughts?

I thought about doing this myself after I ended up being the one sleeping on the pull out a couple of years ago. I think it could work for you. The pull outs have a solid base under the 4 inch foam mattress. You could try it without the foam mattress if your air mattress is one of the regular thickness ones. No advice here, but I'd be interested to know how it worked out for you. Studio pull outs are double size.

Are the pullouts that uncomfortable?

I think it varies depending on where you are staying and who is sleeping on it... not much help, I know. Generally, the bigger the bodies, the more uncomfortable some are... so kids and smaller adults seem to do OK. Used to be you could ask housekeeping for an "egg crate" which they would provide if they had one. The newer ones, also, seem to be less painful.

At my age, I have found them torture, myself, and love the idea of using some kind of inflatable to add a little cushion.

Wish all of the DVC resorts would offer rooms with 2 real beds 😞
I kind of like that there’s a sofa in the studios, but we never have more than just the two of us if we book a studio. It appears that DVC might be leaning toward replacing pullout sofa beds with the pull-down version that is going in at SSR and already exist at RIV. It would be an improvement for those members who actually use the sofa beds for sleeping.

AFAIK, at WDW, only the OKW studios have two real beds, and none of the 1 bedrooms have more than one. (I do not consider the newer pull down Murphy beds to be real beds, although most think they are just as comfortable as real beds). Dedicated two bedrooms will have 3 real beds, but the lock off 2 bedrooms only have two.

My son in his mid 20s doesn't think they are, but I'm in my early 60s with arthritis in my hip, so yeah, it was really uncomfortable. I guess it depends on the individual. This was in Boardwalk villas. I'm hoping they roll out the murphy beds to all of the resorts. The murphy bed (not the child sized one) has a normal mattress on it.

Yeah, it's the only thing about DVC that doesn't make sense to me, you have to spend an insane number of points to get two real beds (outside of the OKW studio). I guess it's fine if you're traveling solo or with one other person, but realistically, how often does that happen? If you invite another couple to come with you, even in a 1 bedroom they wind up sleeping on a pull out, what kind of experience is that? 😕 I'm probably in the minority with this thinking though!

The new Murphy style beds in RIV and SSR have a real mattress in them to sleep on, so it is like a real bed, just a little different frame. Most beds today do not have a box spring, I think the mattress in the Murphy bed just isn’t as thick as the ones on the real bed.

I took a nap on the Poly Murphy bed and I thought it was fine. I would have had no problem sleeping on it. I’m an average sized adult who would not have wanted to sleep on a sleeper sofas, ugh.

We have brought an air mattress simply because the kids wont sleep together so one is one the pullout the other the air mattress.
