Air Fryer

Yeah - I was totally against them for a while - just assumed it was yet another gimmick to take up counter space.

Got one as a gift and it was small, but it did impress me.

Got rid of that for a larger one and also got an Air Fryer toaster oven - so now I have two I use all the time.
The reason to have two is the Air Fryer toaster ovens don't do a great job with fries and things like that.

Another big plus of the toaster oven ones is you can have sides\appetizers and such in there well roasting a large turkey in your oven. A small turkey can be air roasted as well which is what we do now.

The air fryer toaster oven has pretty much replaced our oven 90% of the time.

I just learned how to make hard/soft boiled eggs in mine (although boiled doesn't seem to be correct term). It's so easy.

I love mine. I use it all the time. My mom is getting me a new one - the Ninja Foodi that folds up for Christmas.

I keep wanting to try that. I'm just sure I'll burn them and that will definitely stink up the house for a few days. :D

We have a chicken fryer. Not sure how much use we’d get from an air fryer.

My large oven has convection, but it takes forever to heat up. We generally just use the small (one rack) oven up top, much easier, faster, and not terriblefor heating up the kitchen. But, I was curious about air fryers. Found a smaller basket type on clearance after Christmas last year... $16.80. Figured for that, we could try it. It's fun, but doubt we'll upgrade. It does do a great job with onion rings, tater tots, things like that, though.

Now, Instant Pots? I'm SO in! So much easier than stovetop pressure cookers, and works well for most of the things I slow cook.

My husband bought me a PowerXL air fryer for Christmas a couple of years ago. I think I've used it twice. I'm trying to find the benefits of owning it, but the things I've cooked in there don't seem to come out any differently than in our oven. Our full-sized oven is a convection oven, so maybe that's why?

Chances are, you have one already built into your oven. An air fryer is just a kitchen gadget to replace a convection oven. We do use ours a fair bit, but it is a counter space hog.
I have a convection oven as well and I find that the Ninja Foodi Air Fryer makes 'fried' things much crispier than the oven.

I have seen one that also does sous vide and it sounds great - but its on of those As Seen on YouTube things I think so not quite ready for prime time use IMO, ive not followed up on it lately though

Anyway - they put a steak in and then a rack of lam and it came out beyond perfect (looking anyway) with very little effort.

We got a small one as a gift about 5 years ago, It just died. We use it maybe once a week, Use it more with the kids, heating up a few chicken nuggets, mozzarella sticks, few wings. Mostly frozen stuff. We found it great for a few snacky things for two people, not when family was over.

Looking at this one, https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09BJHB2BD/ref=ewc_pr_img_1?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1 Almost twice the size of old one but not much bigger foot print.

Anyone have it? Any comments? I like the thought of two heating elements and not flipping food.

I have had the Power Air Fryer oven for about 3 years now. I don't use it enough, but what I used to really enjoy cooking was my own rotisserie chicken. But, my oven isn't large enough to put a 5 lb.+ chicken in it. And then I compare the costs of purchasing a cooked one from our grocery stores and they seem to be actually less expensive.

The only advantage I see doing it at home is using my own spices, but finding a chicken that will fit is virtually impossible; I don't want Cornish game hens.

We have a couple of the ninja's,which are great for what fits in them, but we recently got the BREVILLE SMART OVEN PRO,900 series. It's just on another level and top rated by consumer reports. You can roast a 13 pound turkey in it .

My son uses it all the time especially for boneless/skinless chicken that he seasons. I bought him the one with the double doors, 2 shelves, rotisseries, dehydrates, toaster oven, air fryer. He had that black egg shaped one but it was a pain if he wanted to make chicken and then a vegetable. This way with 2 shelves, he puts them on seperate shelves at seperate times.
