WE are not fliers.....but are going to fly on our upcoming trip to WDW (December)
I have noticed that the rate keeps changing...one day lower next day higher! Is this typical? Should I go ahead and book...or wait until closer to December?
And BTW we are flying Southwest.
Thank for the help!

This is best time to book for Sept. Tuesday is best day to book followed by Wednesday and Saturday morning and subsequently those are often the best days to fly as well.

We fly Southwest all the time! Great schedule and 2 free bags! :) I book as early as I can and Tuesday is the day to book. I also check airfares after booking as they will give you credit if the fare drops! I would book now for your Dec. trip! We 'll be there then too!!!! :firefight

I'd check today. Ours dropped today a little bit and I was able to get a credit. Oh and if you can't find a lower price for your whole party, check for one or two.

We are a party of 4 and when I went to book our travel it was a higher price for all 4, but when I put in 1, I got a lower price, the same with 2.

So we ended up getting two at a lower price and then today I noticed that the price on our return flight was lower, but just for 2. I got a credit on one and we had one on points, so I got points back.

Yes, it's typical for the airfares to fluctuate based on what days of the week you will be traveling and also what day you purchase. I have found that flying on Tuesday and Wednesday are usually less expensive than other days.

There are a limited number of seats. As the seats sell, the prices for the remaining seats increase. Supply and demand. If they then do not sell out the seats by the end of the week, the price can drop again. Getting in at the right time is the key. From my experience, booking mid week around 60 days out has been the least expensive, but it depends on how busy the flights are and the airline. Good luck.

With SW, you can book and then get a travel credit good for a year from original purchase if the rates drop. Of course that means you would need to fly again in the next year to take advantage. You can rebook every time the rate drops, no limit.

We're looking at south west as well - Unfortunately prices have only gone up and stayed up since they were first released, no matter what day I check or how many people I price it out for :(

We're a family of 4 flying down on a Friday and home on a Sunday - dates are not flexible.

Should I just suck it up and book them or wait to see if maybe they go down again or go on "sale"? We're flying from Chicago in January. I hate flying, but don't have much of a choice this trip. Wish we could drive!
