Oklahoma air fare is usually high compaired to many other origins, but can't find anything lower than $474 round trip from July 29 to August 9 round trip. Anyone find any other rates that are less?

I feel your pain, the lowest price I've found for my May travel is $480 with southwest. I didn't check others very much because we opened up a rewards card with southwest to get two flights free. Have you priced flying out of Dallas or Tulsa? I found cheaper rates there than OKC but you'd have to factor in the costs of driving there. Good luck!

Since Air Tran got pulled out of Dallas this past Nov, airfare out of Dallas has almost doubled in just the last few months. The base airfare from DFW to MCO always used to be about $220.00, but we could always find it on sale for $158.00-$198.00. Those days are gone, I'm afraid.:sad2: I know Spirit gets bad reviews, but I decided to give them a try for both my May and Sept trips. I was able to use a $50.00 off coupon and got nonstop flights from DFW to MCO for $148.00 (plus all their bag and seating fees). Even with all the fees they were alot cheaper than all the other airlines for those time periods ($148.00 compared to over $400.00 on American, Southwest, Delta, or Continental). I'm still looking for airfare from Dallas to Orlando for our Oct/Nov trip though. I bought the Spirit fares on the same day, back in midJanuary for both the May and Sept trips. Oct/Nov fares were not available at that time. A month later Spirit changed the itinerary for both my May 5th and May 12th flights and I am now losing about 8 hours of my vacation and they don't have any other flights to switch me to and won't refund my money. Despite their cheaper flights I will not be booking them again for the Oct/Nov trip.

Depending on where you live in Oklahoma you might try Allegiant. They fly out of Northwest Arkansas and Springfield/Branson airport to Sanford. They don't fly on your exact dates but a day either side runs about $280-$290 pp inclusive round trip.

Have you tried Spirit Air out of Dallas? they offer unbelievable fares at times. I was so sad when they moved out of San Antonio. My DH and i got a fare from San Antonio to Ft. Lauderdale for 76.00 rt total for both of us...I joined their club and got the price. Their are luggage restrictions but if you can do a carry on you can find a good deal.

I feel your pain here in Tulsa. We are paying $450. pp RT in late May on SW. Ouch! :scared1: I booked this months ago and have never seen it dip any lower.

When we went this past month I paid $450 per seat and checked continually for it to get that low. It is unbelievable how much airfare from DFW to MCO has gone up over the past few years. I just happened to throw our dates in for next spring and found airfare for $359 per seat. I bought it! I'm sure they will tweek the flight times at some point but I saved almost $300 compared to this past spring.

We live in the OKC area and are going to WDW next month. Our tickets were $380 a piece with Delta but we bought them in December. I figured I'd better buy them then at that price because they'd only go up. We looked at flying Spirit out of Dallas but after adding in Spirit's fees for everything the little we'd save wasn't worth the drive.

Have you considered driving?

I know it seems like a pain, but isn't the worse thing in the world?

Driving is out!! I should have given more info. I will be flying to MCO for buisness. I'll be flying my mom and daughter in severaldays later. Mom is 82 and will need gate help, so flying out of Dallas is out as well. Just going to have to take a deep breath and pay $474 rt. :scared1:

I'm lucky that I don't have to pay for mine as well.:wizard:

If misery loves company, maybe this will help:

We booked our flights from Syracuse, NY for our August trip back in mid January. We are flying Sunday-Sunday (August 26th to September 2), direct flights both directions, for $290 pp taxes included. Airline is Jetblue.

Those same flights this morning are $644 pp . Absolutely unbelievable.

Makes your $474 look like a deal in comparison!! I am just so thankful we booked when we did, or there would have been no summer trip for our family.
