Ahoy Me hearties(WITH LINKS ON PG 1). Last day posted 10/17. DEC PTR STARTED W/LINK

Hey Dana! I'm all caught up now. We had laptop issues so I was MIA for a while.

Glad Dale got out of the dog house.:thumbsup2 We had a good time at the DIS meet! It was nice to meet everyone. I'm glad your volunterring experience went well. Will you be volunteering any more?

Hey, Educating people can be powerful!!! I didn't know about the bird habitat and stuff like that. So it is interesting, and if they do have full bellies, and in good health, it makes sense for it to help their chances. Makes total sense!!! LOL

I hope it helps!! As of today they have stopped the flow, but I'm not super optimistic about it. I know it will take YEARS before all the clean up takes place. The clean up has been botched from the beginning and who knows what effects all the chemicals they have used will have on us. Sorry, so pessimistic, but I have NO faith in our government anymore :sad1:.

Those clouds look scary! Though, not as scary as John & Harry sound! :rotfl:
You are so great to volunteer. Thanks for the Audubon link & bird habitat tips. I'm going to follow the link right now. :goodvibes

The clouds always look scary around here, especially during the summer. The heat causes thunderstorms to crop up from nowhere.

You're welcome about the links. I hope the little bit I have done helps in some way.

Ummmmmm......I was getting a little scared just reading about Harry and John. Wonder what they were up to?

I'm glad that your day went well and that you did what you can to help out the Audubon Society. It's really strange but John and I were talking about all these little birds around our house that we've never seen before. They are all sorts of colors and shapes. Much different that those that normally come around our house. Wonder if they came up from down South? We've been feeding them like crazy and have a birdbath in the backyard for them.

I was really nervous Lisa . I don't know what they were up to, but it obviously was not to help out.

I was glad it went well too. I don't know what all the poor birds will do, I see the birds flying around here and I know they will be OK because they will stay here, but the birds who fly in from across the country will not be OK :sad2:.

Glad your volunteering went well on Monday.

Thanks Michelle, I 'm glad it went well too. I was really nervous about what I would have to do, but I really wonder if what I did made any difference???

Hey Alicia . I'm glad you got your computer problems fixed.

I have been trying to keep up with everyone on here and on FB, but I have been really lagging behind too. I haven't posted an update on my TR in a while. I have to say that I love you new food pantry!!! I am seriously thinking about getting one for my kitchen. I, like you, have no cabinet space.

I just read your update on your Volunteer day. Wow! Harry and John seemed a bit scary to me, too. Wonder why they were there if they weren't going to stay?

And I know a tear drop by the eye means prison, for sure, but not so sure if it means that they've killed anyone.

Harry and John were really scary. They reminded me of the guys in the movie 48 Hours........:rotfl:.

I don't think I mentioned Harry's keychain, but it said "#1 Dad"........:lmao:

Hey Dana! I hope that things are going well for you guys. It seems like there's never enough time to Dis here lately.

It is time for an update. I am sorry I have been MIA for so long I hope I haven't lost all my readers :guilty:.

When I left off we were done with our Saturday and had ordered more Flipper's Pizza and were off to bed.

Sunday, May 23rd I set the alarm clock to go off about 7am so we could get up and get everything together, pack the car and head over to CBR and check in. We all got up, got ready and went down to eat breakfast. The free breakfast is pretty decent, it has fruits, cereal, Mickey waffles, eggs, sausage, biscuits, gravy, juices, milk and a few other things. We finished eating and went back to our room to get our stuff and start loading the car. We like staying at the Comfort Suites, but we did not like being on the 7th floor. The elevator was VERY, VERY slow and it took forever to go up and down to the car.

We headed over to CBR and checked in. We pulled up to the gate and the guard asked us our name, found us on the list and lifted the gate arm.......woooo hooooooo we were at the CBR.

I LOVE online check-in. They had everything ready, BUT our room.....:rolleyes1. I gave them my cell number and was told I would get a text when our room was ready. We got our packet and drove around to find our room. We were in Trinidad North, building 32. We found the building and decided to head over to AK.

We got to the park and headed in.

We went to DinoLand and on our way over we ran into Leanne and her family. As we were talking the text message came across that our room was ready. We talked for a few more minutes and Leanne and her family headed to see a show and we went to ride Dinosaur. Standby time was 60 minutes so we decided to get a FP and come back later. The fast pass machines were acting crazy and was eating tickets.....:rotfl: :scared1:; we found this to be true on most of our trip. We got our FPs and headed over to Primeval Whirl. Dallas and I had never rode PW before and we were a little nervous. The standby line for this was 50 minutes too, but we decided we would wait. Finally we got to the ride vehicles and we put in our time machine. The WORST part of a roller coaster ride is the lift hill, sooooooooo I closed my eyes and once we were at the top I opened them again. WOW, we LOVE THIS RIDE.

We had planned on going back and riding it again, but it didn't happen. After we got off PW we went and rode Dinosaur and as usual it was fun and COOL.

After we got off Dinosaur it was time to go back to CBR and unload the car and get something to eat. It was sooooooo hot and we had our GG later that evening and we wanted to get a nap before we went back to AK. We made it to our room and we had paid for a preferred room location. It was not what I would have called preferred, but it wasn't in a horrible location either. We had a corner room on the ground floor so that was nice.

I took this pictures on our second day in the room. I forgot to take them when we checked in on the first day.

After we got the car unloaded we walked over to Old Port Royale to the food court to get some lunch. I had a Philly Cheese steak sandwich, Dale had a hamburger, and Dallas had a hot dog. For dessert Dale had the cheese cake and Dallas and I got the soft serve ice cream. I thought I had pictures of the food, but I could not find them :sad1:. The food was pretty good.

It must have been Frisky Lizard week at CBR because every time we walked to our car or the food court we encountered lizards procreating......:rolleyes1. Dallas said they needed to get a room :lmao:. We made it back to our room and decided it was nap time. Dale was pretty much asleep as soon as his head hit the pillow. I had set the alarm clock for 5pm so we could get up and get ready for our GG at AK. We all slept for about an hour or so and at 5pm we got up and got ready to head back to AK.

So glad you're back with an update, Dana! Missed talking to you! :)

I can't believe you and Dallas rode Primeval Whirl-knowing how you both feel about heights! I'm glad you both liked it! :thumbsup2

We had to meet Leanne, Leanna's friends, Mary and their families at the Flights of Wonder Theater at 6:15pm. We found a bench and sit down to wait for everyone.

IMG_2042.jpg

It was still very hot and Dallas wanted something cold to drink so he and Dale went to a snack stand across from where we were sitting

IMG_2046.jpg

Dallas got a slushy type drink and we all shared it. We saw Mary and her family walking up so we waved them over. Mary needed to take her girls to the bathroom and asked if I knew where one was. As often as I have to find a ladies room I knew right where it was.....:rotfl: We were sitting outside of Yak and Yeti so I pointed her in that direction. When she came back out she thanked me for sending her there because earlier in the day that is where they had eaten lunch, and an envelope fell out of her backpack while they were there. Inside the envelope was $100 Disney dollars and someone had turned it in; the CM recognized Mary and returned the envelope to her :thumbsup2.

After everybody arrived we walked over to the Flights of Wonder Theater. A CM came and took a ticket from each family for the DDP and asked if anyone had allergies. Mary and I went to the podium to let them know that Dallas has a peanut allergy and Mary has a nut allergy. We were told someone would come to the table when we got to Tusker House and go over the food choices with us. After all the groups checked in we were let into the theater and seated in our groups with our guide. We were each given our special pins.

The story teller came out and told us about the Safari and our dinner after.

IMG_2053.jpg

She was funny. It was very enjoyable listening to her. We had all been given animal names for our groups and we were Giraffe or Twiga in the Swahili language. We walked over to the safari ride and boarded our vehicle. I took lots of pictures so I will only post some of them.

After the Safari we went to Tusker House for our dinner. I didn't get any pictures of the food, but I did get a few others.

We ordered our drinks and waited for them to bring out the salads and breads. We waited for someone to come to the table and talk to Dallas and Mary about their allergies, but no one ever came over :rolleyes1. We got in line and went through the buffet and I was able to find Dallas some mini corn dogs to eat and that was about all he ate. The food was OK, but I think they should have more of a variety because most of you know how picky my crew is :sad2:. Dallas did not want his picture made with the characters so we went to see the animals. It was a very large lizard and I think a tarantula.
The desserts were brought to the table and that is when Mary reminded our waitress of the allergies, needless to say she was VERY surprised because NO ONE had told her before hand.

It was EMH at MK and I wanted to head over there. Dale did not want to go so he drove Dallas and I to the TTC and we rode the monorail on in and watched Wishes. We stood on the walkway outside of Tomorrowland Terrace Noodle Station, and we were right under Tinkerbell when she flew over. Mary, Jeff and their girls were coming to EMH too so we waited and met up with them. The park was still very busy even though it was EMH. We were able to ride Buzz and TTA. We walked over toward HM, but we were all very tired so we headed out of the park. Dallas and I headed to our bus stop and Mary and her family headed to theirs. We waited, and waited, and waited, and waited then we finally got a bus back to CBR; it was after 1am before we made it back to our room.

It was a VERY long day, but it was fun. I really enjoyed the GG and being with friends. I really feel blessed to have made such great friends here on the Dis.

Great update!

Love the shots of the room at CBR...someday we'll stay there!

How nice that you all got to spend time together, and I agree, there are amazingly good, kind, wonderful people of the Dis!!!!

Hey Dana! I hope that things are going well for you guys. It seems like there's never enough time to Dis here lately.

Hey Lisa . Things are going pretty good. You are right, there just isn't enough hours in the day. I got up this morning and decided it was time for me to get out of this blue haze and get back to fun stuff. I guess all that has been going on this year had just caught up with me and I couldn't shake it. I know that I am the only one who can change how I have been feeling so, I am going to do so:thumbsup2. To make things even better I am going to bake a very decadent chocolate dessert for dinner.

Too funny! :rotfl:

It was funny.

Hey Michelle . Thank you :goodvibes. I have missed talking to you too .

Since I closed my eyes I was OK on the lift hill, but I don't think I could do it with them open :lmao:. Dallas says that is the first thing he whats to ride when we go back in September. Since we are only going to be there for 2 days we are going to make a list of our favorite rides and hit them.

Thanks you :goodvibes. We did enjoy the CBR, but no more than we are in our room a value resort is good too. I was glad to have the fridge in the room. I wish the beds were bigger though, I guess to get a queen size bed we would have to stay at a deluxe resort.

I just wonder what Walt himself would think of how his dream has brought so many together? When I first started posting on the Dis I would never have thought I would make some of the best friends I have ever had :goodvibes .

Great update, Dana. Love the AK photos as well as the big group photo!

Thank you Kathy:goodvibes. I'm so glad we got the group photo, who knows when we will all be together again!!

Has anyone done the Candlelight Processional at Epcot? I want to get the package and I'm not sure if it is worth the package price or should we just show up and wait in line? I want to do the MVMCP too, but I don't think Dale will go for doing both, so if you had to choose between the two which one would it be? Not sure where we are staying because the AP rates aren't out yet.

I really enjoyed MVMCP, the hot chocolate, and all the christmas characters, and the parade...ooooo it was GOOD!!! Which night are ya'll thinking of doing it?

I'm still here! Thanks for the update...but certainly take your time...we know things come up...sorry your in a funk....thinks must be tough down there in the gulf....like you said even though the flow of oil is (so far) stopped, who knows what damage has been done...

The first thing I noticed about the DIS was that the people posting were FRIENDS that cared about each other, and not just people "chatting" about Disney.. that's cool

I think MVMCP would be more fun for Dallas. I know we can just show up for CP and wait to get a seat. I have looked at the package and the restaurants offered and I don't know that Dale and Dallas would be happy with any of them. I am looking at maybe the 7th or the 9th depending on what day we plan on leaving to come home.

I'm so glad you're still with me. It is really sad down here. We have beaches and we can look at the water, but we can't go in the water. They are opening the waters for shrimpers on Friday, but I'm not going to be eating any :sad2:.

The Dis is a wonderful place to make friends. You are right; it isn't just about Disney.

Is that November or December? I musta missed your dates somewhere!! HAHAHA Was gonna try to see if I can meet you there or something!!
