We just got back from WDW 3 weeks ago. It was a fantastic trip. Honestly one of the best we've ever had. We did a split stay between BLT and AKLV thanks to DH's generous uncle who gave us his DVC points to use. As we are normally Pop folks, the upgrade was simply amazing. 7 days...when we normally can only afford 5, but with the free room we could afford to add days. It was a blast. We have been taking trips every other year for the past 10 years due to us owning and running our own business. It takes so much time and energy and money to run the business. It's a 24/7 job and it is unbelievably stressful. So we rarely get the time or money to go away. We don't even take a day off...literally.

So when we came home from the trip and were faced with the stark reality of life, it was a huge smack in the face for me. I kind of fell into a bit of a depression. Disney was so fun and amazing and perfect, and it had been SO long since I had gone for even a DAY without worrying about the business and the intense anxiety that often goes with it, and this was a WHOLE WEEK without a single care in the world. No wonder I got depressed when we got home! Add to that that we came home to some distressing news about the business (a client is leaving us).

SO...shortly after we got home, DH and I made the commitment to each other that we always do when we get home from Disney...we ARE going back in two years. So 2014 will be our next (only?) vacation. This will give us the time we will need to save up what we will need for a trip (probably 5 days at Pop like we used to do). Just knowing that this future trip is out there and being able to daydream about it and plan for it and look forward to it has helped me tremendously. A LOT can happen in two years...the business is going to go through a lot of ups and downs as it has every year since we started in 2003. Heck, earlier this year we hit a patch with the business that looked really, REALLY bleak. Like "game over", but we rebounded from that and were able to have the trip we just had.

Well, turns out, we will have a family wedding we will have to attend this coming March...in ORLANDO. We have to drive down from NC on a Friday (probably get there around 4pm) and the wedding is Saturday in/near Altamonte Springs. We'd be sharing a room at an Embassy Suites with either my sis and her DH or my parents for the weekend. We thought we MIGHT be able to run over to maybe just Epcot on Sunday, the day after the wedding. Make the drive, spend the day, drive back to hotel and go home Monday.

BUT...

DH's incredible, generous, awesome uncle AGAIN said "Why not take my points and stay a few days?" So while our jaws scraped the floor, he went to his computer, jumped on the member site and next thing I know he's got us booked in a 1br villa at the BEACH CLUB for Sunday night and Monday night in March after the wedding! I almost cried! It's more room than we need but there were no studios available and he has a TON of points he can't use (he's a full-time care-taker for his father), so he was happy to give us the extra points for the 1br.

So now I have not only an actual honest to goodness vacation to look forward to next year (well...a mere 5 months!!) but it's to Disney, if only for a few days! We'll do EMH at MK on Sunday till 12am and then spend Monday at Epcot. Tuesday we'll drive home before lunch.

I'm so happy about this I could bust.
