Before I begin, I just want to thank everyone again for their wonderful wishes on our engagement! We really appreciate them all!!! :grouphug:

---

The next morning, we headed out not-yet-bright and early for a breakfast that Wingnut was especially excited for: Boma! This had been one of his favorites from the year before, and so we were sure to fit it in to our schedule.

One of the downfalls (that we’ve seen already in this TR) of writing a trip report months after the trip without having taken notes is the occasional forgetting of details.

Such as the detail of how we actually got to AKL that morning.

In the spirit of those “create your own adventure” books that I used to love (Did anyone else have the self-declared rule that if you chose one adventure and it ended up with you tumbling off a cliff or something, if you hadn’t moved your finger from the previous page you had segued from, you could take it back and try for another, less catastrophic, ending?), here are the two potential paths we could have taken:

1. Stringbean and Wingnut take a bus from the Poly to Animal Kingdom. Stringbean dances to the music along the way. They then take a bus from the Animal Kingdom to AKL.

2. They take a cab from the Polynesian to AKL.

(Neither path ends with any cliffs or other calamities, so whichever sounds more likely to you is fine by me!)

Through whatever method of transportation that we chose that morning, we made it to Boma right around as they were opening, and were quickly seated, but not before I took some blurry photos from the podium area.

The view from our table:

Wingnut, as per usual, ordered the POG/Jungle/Frunch juice with his breakfast.

I, as per usual, did not.

My plate:

Here we have quinoa (loved), cinnamon raisin French toast (great), bobotie (loved), pap (bland, but still good), asparagus (just asparagus), goat cheese eggs (GREATEST THING EVER ON THE PLANET ), and a banana macadamia nut muffin (great). And orange juice (not Frunch, so I was happy :thumbsup2).

Wingnut's plate:

Quinoa ("always good"), bobotie ("a corned beef hash thing. Not the same bobotie I've had in the past, it was a different meat last time"), carved meats and sauces ("loved"). And his POG juice ("sweet and wonderful").

My second plate:

More bobotie (I told you I loved it!), a strawberry (seriously, HOW does Disney make their strawberries so great??), a sticky bun (fabulous), potatoes (I assume good, no notes on these), and some African fruit salad (unfortunately the fruit was a bit bitter and underripe in this batch).

Wingnut's second plate:

African fruit salad ("fruit VERY underripe, disappointing"), goat cheese eggs ("always fantastic"), cinnamon raisin French toast ("I liked it"), asparagus (no notes here either), sticky bun ("AWESOME").

We are always big fans of Boma for breakfast, despite the hike it usually is for us to get there. But they do have some great unique buffet offerings, and well, when there's great unique buffet offerings, there we usually are too! :thumbsup2

Full of various delicious breakfast items, we made our way over to the bus stop, where it was a bit busy, especially around the MK stop, which is where we were heading. We briefly wondered if this would be an indication of the crowds that morning, but still were determined to get in another MK morning during our trip. An MK bus pulled up, along with a second MK bus right behind it. We were able to get aboard the second bus, and were soon on our way!

(If you're thinking that it made absolutely no sense for us to go to AKL from the Poly to go back to the MK, well, yes, you are correct. I'm not sure why I planned it this way either! :confused3)

Yummy looking breakfast at Boma. We haven't been back since 2010, but we're not huge breakfast eaters anyway and we've been spending our buffet bucks on character meals at this time. :lmao:

As for Choose your own Adventure, I'd go back and rearrange whenever I saw fit. Which I suppose is cheating.... :confused3

And no, going to Boma from the Poly and then back to MK probably didn't make a ton of sense, but when you enjoy Disney transportation, what difference does it make? ;)

Hahaha... based on the fact that you didn't quite enjoy paying for a cab to go to Akershus, I will go with the bus route. Works for me!

Glad you enjoyed breakfast! It looks really good. :thumbsup2

So..... I've been lurking for quite some time and decided I needed to stop ;)

CONGRATULATIONS on the engagement!!!!! Your ring is gorgeous!!!!

We always eat at Boma for dinner. Never tried breakfast, yet!

Maybe I didn't have the "IF your finger is still touching" rule on Choose Your Own Adventure books, but only because I always purposefully kept TWO fingers holding the past two decisions...you know...just in case. No "ifs" about it; I was saving myself no matter what:lmao:! Plus, if you didn't do it that way, chances are that the book would end up being super short and I for one always felt a little ripped off if I allowed that to happen. All those pages, and I only read ten of them:confused3!?

I LOVE goat cheese on eggs. Who am I kidding? I love goat cheese on just about anything! But the only way I will eat eggs is with goat cheese. I'm not a big breakfast person, but I'll make an exception for that.

On the topic of Frunch (or whatever it's called), I have never had it. But thanks to that post where Wingnut said it was basically mango V8 Splash, I am now addicted to mango V8 Splash. So thanks for that:thumbsup2.

I had no Honor Code. I just re-chose my adventure. Even if I got the good ending, I redid it. I was always a big reader.

Boma looks delish! Goat cheese eggs? Yes please!

That reminds me, have to put the V8 Splash on the grocery list.

Can't wait to hear what you did next!

I know that it's early days yet, but I hope that you'll keep us in the loop when you start planning the wedding! I love everything about weddings, but especially the planning!

Do you think you'll Disneymoon?

So excited for my own breakfast at Boma now! It's one of my favourite meals in the World. Yours looks so yummy!

We've only done Boma for dinner, but I really want to try breakfast sometime. I think I'd go just for the goat cheese scrambled eggs!

Another tasty review! I've never done breakfast at Boma, but it certainly looks yummy! Goat cheese eggs? Must try!

Is this a quiz? Cab there, bus back!

I am going to have to show you my plate from Boma breakfast because I have absolutely no idea what I ate. I mean, what what I ate was named. :rotfl: I did have a lot of asparagus because we got there late (around 1050am) and I was hungry for lunch and veggies. Yummy meal. Enjoyed it! :goodvibes

Please post details about your engagement as they emerge. I can't wait to hear all about your plans! popcorn::

I've eaten at Boma, I dunno 5 or 6 times now -- I've lost count, but still never for breakfast. So thanks for your review and pictures.

Of course it makes sense to go from the Poly to AKL and then to MK -- AKL is close to everything!

I'm gonna guess you took a bus there if they were running to AK that early!!

Sounds like you had a good breakfast... I was wondering on the whole go to AKL then to MK but hey... its however you can fit the meals in!!

Personally I don't see us going to BOMA. Not because I don't think we will like the food but because it is so far out of the way. Plus hubby doesn't much care for breakfast and we usually have too many other choices for dinner!

Hahaha I can see why non-character buffet breakfasts would fall to the bottom of the list for you guys! But Boma is awesome!

LOL I'd pretty much do the same thing!! :rotfl: It probably was cheating, but oh well...

Gotta love those busses! Nah, I want to think I had better plans laid out, but I'm pretty sure it was like that from the start! Oh well!

Hahaha... based on the fact that you didn't quite enjoy paying for a cab to go to Akershus, I will go with the bus route. Works for me!

That's what I'm thinking we did too! The breakfast was definitely really good!!

So..... I've been lurking for quite some time and decided I needed to stop ;)

Welcome!!! Thank you!!!! :goodvibes

You guys should definitely try breakfast, it's really good!!

Hahahahahaha :lmao: I like that rule!!! I definitely felt the same way about only reading a few pages out of the whole book. Once I tried to just read the book straight through, and of course it made no sense, so I'm pretty sure I gave up pretty soon on that idea!

Goat cheese and eggs really are a match made in heaven, aren't they? I love them!

Yay!!! I'm glad that the frunch substitute worked for you!!! I'm not a fan of either juice, so I hadn't actually compared the two for myself!

Boma's great for breakfast! Definitely worth a try! Hahaha yes, it's always good to have little reminders of Disney at home!

I definitely will keep you guys posted, don't worry!! :thumbsup2

breakfast looks yummy and I really enjoy your play by play assessment of each item. :goodvibes

Hahaha thanks!!!

It really is a fantastic breakfast!!!

You definitely should try breakfast there!!! The goat cheese eggs are definitely worth the price of the breakfast, but everything else is great too! :thumbsup2

I have been loving your trip report - and what a great last post! Congrats!
:bride::dance3::bride:

Welcome!!! Thank you!!!! :goodvibes

Yes, post your plate pic! We'll try to identify it! :thumbsup2 I'm glad you enjoyed it!!

I definitely will, don't worry!! :goodvibes
