This has been a dream of mine since my first visit to WDW in the 80s. I can still remember the wonder and amazement of entering the magic kingdom and Epcot for the first time and riding all the classic rides. Btw - spaceship still seems to me one of the greatest ride achievements...come on, a giant sphere with +15 minute ride/story about the history and future of the world. Don't get me wrong I still like faster, higher and twisty rides but I love the story and magnitude of this ride more. In any case, one of my earliest memories was taking the monorail through the contemporary and I told myself I would live there someday. Well, I guess I won't be moving into the contemporary, but I just got my DVC membership number this week, and it just seems to me that I should have done it years ago.

I bought resale SSR 200 March UY.

Honestly, I waited until I was sure that I would continue to go to disney...the wife is now more of a disney fan/freak than I am, and I looked at the 20 years of resale data showing that disney timeshare have generally gone up in value and compared it to the cost of paying cash for future disney trips with a larger group of family and friends. the love of disney was always there. Probably could have paid for the dvc after three deluxe stays, but wanted to know the dvc resale market was going to be stable.

Thanks. Now I guess just need to decide what to do first. I don't think I've been WDW and spent everyday at the parks. Maybe, I will just go, relax and do those disney things that I didn't take the time to do those disney things outside the parks. Any suggestions for a new dvc owner? Anything that is unique to dvc?

Welcome...since we became members we have a whole new strategy for our vacations...more relax by the pool, etc...On family vacations we still do a lot of parks, come back in the pm to swim or relax, and back to the parks in the evening. DH and I are thinking of taking our own trip in February and just do a lot of exploring, resting and maybe visiting the parks for a few hours at night! Enjoy!

This made my day. Similar memories from maybe when I was as young as 3 (1973). Same dream. I hope to be an owner someday. *giant cheesy smile*

Congratulations! Welcome Home!!!

Lol. I've been haunting this forum and reading the post ever since we decided to buy resale. I just realized I started three threads today. Guess participating is better than just reading. Feeling very welcome now!

So happy for you. Congratulations! You will love SSR, as it is a fantastic resort...so peaceful and beautiful.

Since becoming DVC owners are attitude about vacationing has totally changed as well. We're not in a big hurry to get to the parks, sometimes not going at all but choosing to relax and read poolside, walk into a park for dinner in the evenings and enjoy the fireworks etc. SSR is a wonderful resort with really beautiful walking trails. Welcome Home :yay::yay:

Thanks for the reassurance about ssr. We have never stayed there and really liked wilderness lodge, but like most people decided that ssr presented a slightly better deal. Also, I think in the long run having a break from disney while at disney, but having access to disney springs for dinner and breakfast will be invaluable.

Welcome Home!! Better late than never buying into DVC!! We love SSR and will be there in 34 days right after our 5 night DCL cruise!!
