After starting the week in DL, we are heading to San Diego and were able to
get a good rate with PRICELINE for the HYATT REGENCY ISLANDIA, SAN DIEGO, CA but have read 50 / 50 reviews on TRIP ADVISOR.
Does anyone have 1st hand knowledge of this hotel.

We just returned from a very nice stay there. The pool and jacuzzi are very nice, and they have a small "beach" area overlooking the marina, so bring some sand toys if you have kids. It is very close to Sea World, which is convenient if you are going there. They also have a small koi pond, so the kids can look at the fish and other animals (ducks, rabbits). Enjoy!

Thanks for the info. My wife is worried about the cleanliness because we got it at a good rate off PRICELINE.COM (1ST TIME I TRIED IT). We have stayed at Hyatt's b4 and they almost are all clean & in good shape. Plus the MISSION BEACH area looks like a resort. Thanks for the feedback.

My FIL is an investor at that hotel, so we stay there every time we go to San Diego. I've also read the TripAdvisor reviews. It's a nice hotel; it's always clean and the rooms have always been in good shape. We :flower: stay in a room that has a bedroom separated from a living room area. We get a discounted rate, but it is otherwise a fairly expensive hotel. I agree with TripAdvisor that it is a somewhat isolated hotel; it's not my favorite location in San Diego. If you got a good rate, I think you'll be quite happy with it.

Thanks. We did get a rate ( via PRICELINE) of $82 per night ( plus tax & parking).
I think the people who complained on TRIP ADVISOR probably paid over $175 and up per night and expect perfection. You have given me some peace of mind and perhaps
we will drop your FIL name and get lucky. Thanks again.

It's a good rate and while it isn't next to everything, it's in a very picturesque area, so the views will be nice and you'll have a great ocean breeze. As you know, a car is a must in souterhn cal, so not being right next to major attractions isn't a big deal. They are always just a few miles away.

Enjoy!
