After Hours event in August?

I genuinely hope they do not extend this event. I just sent a letter today regarding this issue. I'm so disappointed that there are ZERO emh at MK during our stay. I stay on property for this perk, and the fact that they have altered hours and reduced their product for more money, just makes me shake my head. I get that they are in the business of running a business, but this is just a greedy move...imho

My guess they will extend it, though I doubt they will have this in the fall with the holiday parties already taking up a lot of nights. But who knows.

I can't see them scrapping something so quickly. It hasn't had time to catch on. If people had more noticed than a month, I would bet more people would sign up.
Or maybe they need a slight price adjustment. I feel there is a demand for this sorta thing --- to experience an EMPTY park .. to experience all the rides with NO lines .. to be in the park REALLY late at night.

Just because the first few events weren't sellouts isn't telling. I mean word has BARELY gotten out to the general public. People who already had their April vacations planned probably didn't have enough notice to even consider it. Travel agents haven't had time to promote it, etc. How many people going to WDW right now don't even know this is available?

I see this as a way for Disney to test having a hard-ticket night event during the first 8 months of the year.
I definitely see the Early Morning Magic thing to be way more popular than this (and they will probably extend this to other parks). They would be silly to not offer a Askerhus breakfast package that gives you early access to A&E and the new ride.

I have had the pleasure of experiencing the empty park, really late, walk on rides that you speak of...it was during regular EMH...:(

How long is your trip? Seems odd that there are NO morning or night emh during a given week at wdw.

I've seen mentioned that one of the reasons the tickets aren't selling well is because Disney didn't give enough notice before starting this event and then say they believe it will be extended. But no June dates have been announced yet so if they open some dates in June, isn't Disney doing the same thing. We go in June and are almost at our 30 day mark. If they were going to give this idea a run through the summer to "give it a chance", then why haven't any dates been put on the calendar yet? What would be the reason to wait?

I am thinking that it is not doing nearly as well as they want it to, and honestly, I do think that price point is the major contributor to that problem. As another poster suggested, $750 for a family of 5, or $600 for a family of 4 for that matter, is NOT an insignificant sum of money. As a matter of fact, that pays for an entire 10 day ticket, and more than half of a second one, quite a lot of money for the average family to spend for ONE night in the park!

Why give something away for free that people are willing to pay for? That is what they are trying to find out.

Besides .. locals and off-site guests can't utilize the EMH and this event is probably a lot cheaper than paying the "premium" of staying on-site.

We arrive on a Friday and there are emh that day, but obviously we won't be able to participate and we leave the following Wednesday when there do happen to be pm emh...early in the planning there was another morning emh and another pm emh. As is, we won't be able to participate in them and that is disappointing.

wdw should seriously reconsider their after hours format and maybe the program would last... maybe some more people to offset the ridiculous price. i'm not saying a lot more; that would defeat the purpose. but from all the reports i've read from people who've gone, they said the park was a ghost town with 5 minute wait lines. for half the price, i'd gladly take some more people and 10-15 minute wait times.

Simply, because it used to come standard for staying onsite...that was the biggest draw for our family. It's like letting someone book a plane ticket and tell them their luggage is included and then deciding two weeks before they travel that you could charge for luggage, because people will pay for it. Completely disappointed Disney enthusiast here...
Also, as a family of six it's much cheaper for us to stay onsite than pay an extra $900 for the ticketed event.

well there aren't any guarantees that there will be an EMH during your stay, especially if you stay less than a week. MK evening hours are on Wednesday nights now. I never stay over a Wednesday, so I'll never be able to do them as long as they are on Wednesdays. But then it's my preference to stay weekends only. If they didn't have the After Hours event the EMH would probably still be on Wednesday. I used to go to evening EMH when it was on Sundays. It was a bit disappointing when they moved it to Wednesday but it didn't occur to me to write in about that. Even though scheduling on Wednesdays pretty much guarantees that I won't be able to attend one.

I understand that some of these After Hours events are going off with only a few hundred people in the park, no wonder it's a ghost town.

If they extend this or Magic Morning we'll likely try it out - its just my husband and I. I know he would much prefer touring in a smaller crowd when the sun is down - so much so that napping in the afternoon and staying up late would probably work out well for us. If I try MM Id just go alone and have him meet up with me - I love PP and the mine train whereas he could care less.

We are staying a full week and have NO evening EMH at MK. There is only one day scheduled for EMH during our trip and it is in the morning (at this point, anyway).

what week do they have no evening EMH at MK? could be it just hasn't been scheduled yet, so don't give up if it's several months away.

I sent a letter complaining. I didn't really complain that they offered this event but more expressing my concern that they are offering more paid events while simultaneously cutting back or reducing park hours and offering less EMHs. I pretty much received a canned response back that they appreciate my concern, will pass it on, and that park hours are determined by crowds and demand. Not comforting.

What week are you going? I'm all for DAH, hope it sticks around, and I don't think it really has an impact on EMH at all...
But, evening EMH at MK is the only one that we do..so hopefully this is just a misprint on the schedule.

Ok, this is reassuring. Actually are still EMH that week, it's just that they don't fit in your plans.

Yup, that was the ONE set of EMH we were hoping to do too. Our trip is Oct. 29 - Nov. 5 and last I checked there were ZERO in the evening.

Hoping on your behalf that now that party dates and prices went out, they'll turn to finalizing the rest of the schedule and you end up with EMH you can use!

Yeah, I see they have morning emh on Oct 28 and 31 at MK and evening emh on November 5. I'm sure the holiday had an effect on emh hours that week.
