We are making our very first trip to WDW. I’ve been reading posts for the last few months on here. I’m just astounded by the amount of criticism and judgements though. This is what I’ve learned:

Don’t bring children. They may cry and disturb someone. And if you do bring children, don’t you dare have a child in a stroller if it’s walking age. And if you do have a stroller stay away from everyone just in case you accidentally bump someone.

Hmm..I guess I was mistaken when I thought WDW was for kids.

Is that all the negativity you picked up? You've missed an awful lot. Go back and read some more.;)

I think although you may find this attitude from a few vocal people - when you really are there - everyone knows WDW is for kids and they will be treated like royalty!!!!!

Did you miss the posts that tell you that your a bad parent if you let a child under the age of 25 go on a thrill ride? I may be reported to the dept of human services by the end of our trip, just on the thrill ride offense alone, plus, I may occasionally have one child who is tired while we are at the parks and I imagine I will be labeled a bad parent if we immediately head for the exists at the first sign they may be tired.

Go and have fun, I for one don't give a hoot what other people think about me and my family and our vacation. I do though see where you would have gotten the impressions you that have.

I have never read anything like that on here. This board has given me a wealthy of information for all 4 trips I have taken and so much more for my upcomign 5th trip. I agree keep reading and ignore the rude ppl!

You can't be serious..... :confused3 :confused3 Sometimes I think this site is too optimistic but the OP observation is way off the mark. :rolleyes1

You didn't learn not to bring your old refillable mugs from a previous trip to use on another trip? Tsk, tsk.

ROFL!

Dont let the negative posts discourage you from going. WDW is a place for kids and adults. The posts you are reading are the just people venting and sharing frustrations I think. I just made my first disney visit, 2 adults no kids and I had a great time. I enjoyed watching the children being happy. In fact one thing I enjoyed doing was saying Hi to a kid and ask 'how thier day was, which park they were going too, who their fav charct. is, etc'...

BUT, I did find some children did tend to frustrate me also. The things that "flustered" me were when parents would repeat this 50 times "No Bobby, dont Bobby, no Bobby...stop Bobby, no Bobby". The parents say this without even looking at the child or trying to help the child understand why they are being asked to stop. Or kids who would come up and hit you or kick you and laugh and the parents would just say "get back over here......" with the same "uncompassionate" attitude. So really it isnt the wee lil cute kids "fault" at all.

Not looking to get flamed, perhaps Im just viewing it wrong too. Either way, I hope you do still consider the WDW, and bring your family and have a great time. :sunny:

dont buy into that "happiest place on earth" junk, we hate each other :teeth:

I for one am glad you have decided not to go. Less people to be behind in line.

Here is my take on it:
Politeness goes along way. If you kid crys, just dont ingore it, try to calm him down or take him outside. Having a stroller is fine, but if you bump my leg, appolgize please!

Really, wdw is a great place, Me and my DGF kept syaing that it would be an amazing place if it wanset for a certant type of human: The Stupid Person.

And dont get me wrong! "The Stupid Person" isent always with childern. We saw nearly as many stupid people without childern as with. Heck, the worst attack of stupid we saw was a young childless couple that STOPPED right at the end of the down esclator in the Land at epcot to look at a map! They caused quite a pileup.

Ok, spitting out my water at that one! hehehehe

Mike :goodvibes

p.s. To the original poster, don't let any negative posts outweigh all the good ones. What I think most people get upset with is parents who are over the top obviously not caring that there are other people at the park too. Personally, I expect that there will be happy kids & crying kids & all kinds at WDW, there is so much going on sensory overload has to get to them at some point. :flower:

Take a deep breath and I hope you are not serious about being afraid to go on your trip. That being said WDW is NOT just for kids. WDW is for "Kids of All Ages".

It just comes down to common sense. Your children are not the only children and or people for that matter who matter if you keep that in mind you will be fine. The posts you read are mostly about parents who forget that the only people who think their children can do no wrong are them.

If your child is tired and cranky take them back to the room for a nap. If you child is crying bloody murder that they are afraid to go on a ride do not yell at them and drag them on the ride telling them that you paid to much money for them to not ride something.

If you use common sense I am sure you and your family will have a great trip and you might even come back and post about those awful parents who have their children up to all hours having meltdowns.

Oh! and make sure not to try and buy your 12 yr. old a kids meal. Mickey's thugs will come and take you away for that one. :earseek:

I have a hard time believing that with literally thousands upon thousands of posts in this forum alone, that an overwhelming majority are posts so awful that it would make you afraid to go on your trip. The overwhelming majority of posts here are nice and helpful...are you really going to allow a post here and there rule your entire trip? It's the internet, hon...to survive a message board where there are thousands of membrs all with differing views, it's important to grow some thick skin and not sweat the small stuff. Let things roll off your back and don't dwell on them. Otherwise you'll forever be dreading anything you ever do.

GilesFamily--Go take your children don't worry about the what other people say. If you are polite and curtious to everyone around you, you will have the time of your life enjoying everything with your children. It is the people who think that because they paid to be there that the park belongs to them and only them, those are the people that they are complaining about. I have seen this myself, they are oblivious to everyone else. They do hit you with strollers on purpose just to get you to move it has happened to my DH instead of saying "excuse me" they hit him and looked at him as if it was his fault and never said "I am sorry" they just kept on going. And again he was hit with one by accident and they apologized up and down. That is the difference. So I say GO have a GOOD TIME!!!

I think the OP was being sarcastic (at least that is the feeling I got, but my sense of humor is a little twisted to begin with)
BTW If you smoke stay home, you are not welcome at Disney World (at least that is what I heard!)
and for heaven's sake make sure you buy a mug at your hotel for each individual person in your party ... there are mug police.
and don't dress inappropriately... people hate that (although no one agrees on what inappropriate is... IMHO it is wearing anything you might accidentally fall out of, but I have heard your footware will be scrutinized, and fanny packs are OUT!!) :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
