Afraid of flying....

I'm leaving tomorrow for Florida (not WDW though). I should be very happy (freezing up here!). But lately I have been nervous. I had flown 3 times since 911, and so far so good. I'm not worried about terrorists, more afraid of plane maintenance.

Wish me luck. :(

You'll be fine dear! :sunny: airplanes are better maintained than 100% of cars...one of which you ride in everyday! :)

Have a Wonderful Trip! :) Enjoy the "warmer" air! :):):)

Good luck. I'm sure you will be fine. {{{HUGS}}} sweetie

I am right there with you. I am very very fearful of flying. The hardest thing I have ever done is get on a plane on September 12, 2002 . I had a business trip and I could either fly out the 11th of 2002, or Friday the 13 . I chose the 12th.

That was my first post 9/11 flight, and like I said it was the hardest thing I have ever done, but I did it.

I leave in 3 days, and will have our 5 yo with us for his first flight, so mommy has to have a brave face.

It will be fine (for both of us)

Thanks!
I'm sure I'll be fine. :)

Now all I have to do is to brave the record breaking low temperature of Key West, 59 degrees. I'm sure it's tough to adjust, considering that it's close to -20 here.

I hear you -- I'm heading out to Vegas on Friday with DH and flying home alone on Monday. I just try to think of all the flights that take off without a hitch every day. I'm a little worried about the Northern cold factor too. Temps in NV are in the high 60's, but I guess it will beat the low 20's in PA. Have a good trip! I'll pray for you if you pray for me!!

I with you on this one. Although I know rationally that flying is probably safer than driving, I still haven't been able to bring myself to get on a plane. I am planning a trip to WDW in November and I plan to drive. Just can't talk myself out of the anxiety.

I have the same issues you do. It's not the terrorists so much as the fear of mechanical failure.

My DNiece31, will be flying with her dad to Germany in April to visit relatives and the poor thing is already having bad dreams at night :( (My sister isn't going with them, due to chronic health problems :( )

Anyway....every time I hear of DISers coming back from a trip all safe and sound, it gives me courage to go on the next trip!

I do love to fly, the actual experience is exciting to me....there's just that underlying fear of a crash :(
