AEF code with Disney - problem!

I went on the Disneyworld website and saw that there was a "summer savings" special. I noticed that moderates were $94 a night so I checked the price for a standard room at CR for the beginning of May. Indeed, it was quoted as $94 a night plus tax but I asked my DH (since he has the day off) to call with the code and request the Martinique building. DH was given a very hard time - he was quoted at $129 a night and since we are AP holders, they said they could give us $121.50 a night. He called about five times and every one of the reps told him $129 and that the $94 rate was just for Disney Visa cardholders and actually, my DH said they were quite gruff and rude with him. I went back on disneyworld.com, typed in my dates and again, got a rate of $94 a night; I made a deposit of $104.00 for one night (with tax) and called my DH with confirmation/reservation # to call and request Martinique. When he called, the reps could not believe what a great rate he got and asked where he got it - can you believe this? The people working at Disney don't even know the rates that we provide on their own website? Needless to say, we are not too impressed

I also saw these codes listed on Mousesavers, and they specifically said "for everyone." No mention of "Disney Visa only!" Sorry you had trouble and glad you ultimately got the rate. We are going to Old Key West in June and wanted to add on a $94 night too... or maybe the $139 Wilderness Lodge. Let's home I get someone with a clue when I call!

Hi. I read your thread about the AEG code and I am sorry that you are having such problems. I called and made my ressies on 3/21/03 and had no problem. This code is for Florida residents only. I wanted to book the all star movie but the girl told me I could only get the the all star music or sport so we opted for the music one. I made sure when I called the I was talking to a Disney cro and not the travel one. I talked to a girl named Logan and she was so sweet and helpful. I got the room for 54.00 a night plus tax. I payed 66.00 for the deposit and will pay for the rest when we check in. Also have to show Florida resident ID at time of check in.Hope this helps.

Instead of arguing maybe just call back and see if you get someone who knows what is going on or call the CRO instead of WTDC

As you noticed the internet site is easy to book as well then you can always call for PS etc. afterwards

i just got off the phone with reservations and had no problem booking with AEA code got 1 night at ALL STAR MUSIC for 74.00 a night plus tax came out to be 83.00.we needed some where for just 1 night before we check- in at VWL

We have a package booked and paid for in April. I saw the AEF code on the Disney site. I called to see if I could apply this code to my existing package. I was told by the woman on the phone that there would be a fee. Fine. Then she comes back and says no rooms available in our hotel. Hang up, go back to Disney.com and it says there are rooms available. Now I am MAD! Call back and complain low and behold there are rooms. I was charged a $50 fee. That's ok they are sending me a check for $385!!!

It's interesting how these rates are always different. I found the AEF code from Mousesavers for $94 at CBR and $139 for AKL, when I booked, CBR turned out to be $109 then plus tax, but AKL was the correct $139 plus tax. I thought about argueing w/ the rep (Who would NOT connect me w/ CRO and INSISTED that she could help me and was NOT Disney friendly-hmph).

Now that I see it IS $94 for Moderate, should I call and complain? I called back the same day and another not so friendly rep said that was the "Best" deal.

Why do some phone reps act like it's money out of THEIR pockets if they honor the good discount rate? Do they get demerits for beign nice to people who want a bargain? Gosh!

I have a question. I was going to wait a bit before booking a $139 night at Wilderness Lodge. Are there only so many rooms available "on sale?" If I wait til next month, will they all be gone? I will need to pay for the room right away and was trying to juggle billing dates with my credit card... I just wondered as the info on Mousesavers said we had a while to use these latest codes.

I thought you only had to put down one night deposit (assuming room only booking)

Jaysue is right. It's only a one night deposit if booking through CRO. I believe it's $200 for a DC package.

Are you going within 21 days. I think I remember reading that if you book for travel within 21 days they require payment up front. Not sure though

I think I will call them back. Just on principal!!!

And the weird thing about the deposit is, when I called, they SAID one night's rate + tax...ok, so I"m ready to give her my card, but she said your total of $277 (Apprx. $122 CBR & $155 AKL) is DUE on April 4, she didn't want my CC number...

UGH...sometimes they're NOT the friendliest people to deal w/!!!

But yea, I'm gonna call back just on principal!!!

I booked PO-FQ for May using the codes and was given a rate of $94 for standard view/room. I am paying the $109 /night for a king bed or this same price would apply to a waterview room. Just wondering if you had requested that OR if that is all that is available with the code rate-(doubtful but you never know). I would definitely call back as I have spoke with the CRO a couple of times in the past few weeks and the CMs knowledge definitely varies. Good Luck!

Hi Karen,

When they asked me what kind of room I wanted, I just said the cheapest, most standard room and she asked how many people were going to be in the room and I said TWO, just my DH and I...and now that I think about it, she said good because I have a King room for you. and I didn't think anything of it!

Oh, good thing I didn't call I would of sounded pretty silly! oops!

I'm thinking about changing Moderate resorts anyway, (instead of CBR) THIS time, I'll make sure I know what KIND of room they give me!

Since it seems to difficult to deal with the CROs these days, you should just go disneyworld.com and reserve a room; get your reservation number and then call Disney to request anything in particular, I would be curious as to how you make out - let us all know

Thanks for the tip, I should of just did it directly at Disney.com, but I was worried that there wouldn't be a space for me to put in the code.

I'm gonna keep an eye out for more codes though, just incase!

Seems to me that the only time you use the internet site to book is when there is the "vacation specials" link in the near upper left portion of the page - even at this time if you click upper right rates and reservations you will get rack rates!!!

All you need to do then is make sure the internet rates match the rates that Mary so graciously puts on http://www.mousesavers.com. After you check and match then you reserve and then call WDW for your PS, events and room requests on the ressie.

Of course if you a Florida resident or can do better than the rates on the vacation specials link by all means call the WTDC/CRO.

I must admit, the two times I have booked it has been on the phone with WTDC and I book room only, quote the appropriate code and voila no problem at all and I get the rates shown by Mary.

I guess it depends on who you get - as mentioned since there are so many of them politely end the call and call again - you are almost sure to get someone else.

One major warning about booking through disneyworld.com. The cancellation policy is 46 days, otherwise you lose the first night's deposit. With CRO (over the phone) it is 5 days. What's interesting though is that if you go to book a room-only ressie in the rack rate section of the website, then you do get the 5 day cancellation policy. But for some reason whenever they have discounted booking availability on the website, the policy is 46 days, whether it is a package or room-only.

Wow, I had the complete opposite experience with CRO. I had already booked POFQ with the CXA rate and I called back to re-book with the AEF rate (saved $90.00). The CM I talked with couldn't have been nicer. I said I didn't want to be a pain switching codes, but the money saved meant more meals. He something to the effect of "no problem, call back as many times as you need, we want to make your vacation perfect." I was really impressed with his helpfulness not only with the rate, but with all the other questions I had. Guess I got one of the "good" ones.
