[ADVISORY] WDW - MagicBand-Only Testing Begins at Disney's Pop Century Resort

So I'm struggling a little. I leave for my trip in 7 more wake ups. I am beyond excited b/c I finally get to see the Christmas decorations. I never thought I'd be able to go b/c work is crazy this time.of year. Well work is making me take a.week off unpaid so I picked a week that was good for me. =) I am staying at Pop...I know this means I will not be able to pull regular fast passes. I do feel this puts me at a.disadvantage. Thing is I'm trying to figure out how much having access to FP_ would really impact my trip. I will be at rope drop and ride til it gets crazy in that park and then hop where I have my FP+ ressies already made....and they were made before the tiers so I have the headliners I want. Am I just a.sucker thinking that not having FP_ won't ruin my trip? I do like to ride rides multiple times but thinking if I'm.at RD I can still ride Space and Big Thunder a few times in a row before it gets crazy. I don't think FP_ would be available in the afternoon park either.

Go to the MK on party days. Be there at rope drop. pixiedust: Stop by guest services and thank them for scheduling all those parties to make it easy for you to find a low crowd day.

I can't help you in the other parks. But MK is what we always care most about.

Sorry Delmar, I'm glad the Hub posted up the information he did. I'm not staying at Pop, but I find this whole FP+ implementation fascinating. Also, I am invested in WDW through DVC and I like to have a feel for what is going on at WDW. If I feel Iger is hurting the parks through his cutbacks in maintenance and training, then it's time for me to sell off my DVC shares.

When Pete from the Dis says he feels the CMs are becoming ambivalent to their jobs then I will take notice and see if anybody else is noticing the same thing.

:thumbsup2

Um, I think that's the point. We are appreciative of his/her cut and paste skills because we don't have access to the hub and Disney has decided to be ridiculously clandestine and uninformative with people's hard earned vacation money.

:thumbsup2

Well said! I agree

We spend thousands at Disney resort (as do many if not most guests) and deserve to know what we are getting and to make an informed decision about our vacations and hard earned money.

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 I agree they should be more upfront with their testing, give people the ability to opt out and give some reward for testing what is suppose to be this state of the art system, instead they are changing things daily and not letting the consumer make an informed decision. They should have let all the people with Pop reservations know ahead of time, let them opt out, switch resorts or given them a fininacial incentive to be their guinea pigs, a room discount, a free meal etc.

Thanks mom2rtk. I do have a party day scheduled in MK. I am going to the party on 12/3 and starting that morning in AK but will hop to MK later. I have FP+ scheduled for MK for that day too. I really don't think it'll impact me horribly. I mean I'll may only be able to ride TSMM once on my morning at HS instead of twice but I'd rather ride RnR more that TSMM. I can do that via single.rider line. It's a friend trip so no kiddos to manage either.

LMAO! He/she is a (frustrated?bored?annoyed?) CM pretending to be an official Disney rep. Which is a violation of so very many rules of their job. They want to post advisories, fine. They want to start spouting off how other CM feel about guests and how they talk about them? Then they've crossed the line because of how they are presenting their self.

And nice to know that all the users that have been keeping this board up to date and informed were just wasting their time because they didn't post threads called advisories. FWIW, I warned people back in Oct that this was coming and I knew what resort it was going to happen to well over a week before the hub posted this. I wasn't free to share that specific information so I didn't. I'm glad someone felt more free to post it so people knew about it before being blindsided. I also don't share the specific troubles the front lines are really dealing with because it will do nothing to help plan a Disney vacation. There is no rhyme or reason to why these issues are cropping up so no reason to waste time speculating about them or to moan and groan over them.

The advisories are simply FAQs from the real HUB, complete with the Q&A parts. Anyone with a log in has access to this information so I'm glad you are appreciative over their excellent cut and paste skills.
Hub envy?

(so all that freedom of the press stuff in your tag line is bs? if you know the truth then write it son!)

Thanks Hub, even if it is cut and paste!

I suppose the only alternative for most here would be to read it all on Wikileaks.

I don't think it will ruin your trip. it just depends on how much u normally take advantage of the old FB- . Now my family we go from rope drop to closing and will usually end up with over 6 FB a day per park. So only being able to use 3 will effect our trip. but not ruin it. At the end of the day we would end up standing in some more longer lines and end up doing a few less attractions, that is it. You are going during a slower week wait times for the non head lines should still be pretty lite. I think that TO has the whole FB+ thing only effecting the lines by adding a few extra minutes so it should still be manageable. speaking of TO (touringplans.com) having a touring plan would be helpful.

Thanks! I'm using easywdw for park picking and have the cheatsheeta downloaded. My last trip was a whirlwind trip on Leap Day 2012. I did both Magic Kingdom and Disneyland in 1 day. Talk about fun, but not a good judge for pulling fast passes. The trip before that was Apr 2011 and before they started enforcing FP return times. I pulled like a madwoman that trip. I think the first 2 hours I had been on 6 rides and had 5 FPs for later. I've been watching the wait times and FP info on the MDE app the past few weeks. I don't see many available for the rides I would go on in the afternoon. So I really think I'm just missing out of FP_ on the first park of the day. But lots of those in parks besides MK are returning in the afternoon and I wouldn't be able to use them anyway. Hoping by not standing in the line to get my FP_ will enable me to ride some rides twice in a row. I have never stayed at Pop and am not attached to it in anyway but I don't wanna pay more for a moderate. I guess I could move to All Stars but just not sure it's worth the hassle. I feel like I'm in a constant battle with myself. I know the first few days will be insane (I arrive Thanksgiving Day), but hoping for calmness Sun-Wed. Crowd levels rated at 4 in those days.

yeah, I would not stress yourself out to much about it. Sounds like you have a good plan in place. Again, we ended up switching resorts ,but that is our family. I don't know if u need too. I can also tell u it was not that much of a hassle b
to switch resorts, but keep in mind at this point disney will charge u $65 to change to another value resort. add that fee to your decision making. (also Reminder all star sports is having food court refurb so stay away from there) we go almost every year the same week. yes Fri/ sat will be crowded, but you will be good sun thru wed. if worse comes to worse we will be down there at that same time. I am hoping to be taken full advantage of both FB- and FB+ if your in a bind, maybe I can help you out..lol

You're too kind. I did think about asking some friends if they had some old cards I could borrow. Mine all have tickets on them so won't be able to use them. OK...talking to myself now...I'm done thinking about it. The main goal of this trip is to see the Christmas decorations and I'll definitely be able to do that. I have lots of that planned for Fri and sat when parks will be busier. Now if the tendonitis in my ankle would go away there would be nothing to worry about but that is a whole other story.

Wouldn't that be called Mikileaks? ;)

And I agree....keep up the good work, Hub! It's much appreciated here, more than some others would let on. :thumbsup2

Nice!

In defense of the The Hub...maybe all of our resident CM board members had access to this information before The Hub posted it. Who cares? Because that information wasn't shared. The rest of us didn't know this information existed. The fact is The Hub is sticking his/her neck out to try to keep the rest of the board informed in a way that other CM members haven't. To be clear...I don't blame anyone else here for not C&Ping from the Hub...I assume that those CM board members don't enjoy the same level of anonymity at work that The Hub has. Clearly, whoever is behind The Hub is potentially putting his/her job on the line here, and I for one appreciate it. As far as I've seen, The Hub has never once acted like s/he has any special access to any information not readily available to any other CM, but the difference between The Hub and everyone else is the fact that s/he found a way to share that while still protecting himself. So bravo to whoever is behind the screen name.

I was not charged any extra to switch. I just complained about fastpass issue and they switched me to all star music. I actually got a small refund of around 80 dollars because of difference in prices.

you switched at the Resort right? problem I had was that my trip is still a week away and did not want to chance waiting til I got there so they were going to charge me that fee (seeing how no CM could confirm that the test at POP was even going on) I ended up moving up to a moderate so they waved the fee. ($400 more for the switch, how nice of em!!!lol)

Mad Hattered is on his game tonight!

And I'm clearly off mine for not coming up with it myself.......

Someone told me that my name had been mentioned in here in association to a post I made on Twitter about the possibility of more resorts joining the rollout in December. I think you guys know that I post links to the threads when I've used them as a source. I was sent that via email, but it is possible that the person received it from this thread or from the actual Hub. Certainly no intention to take someone's work.

I really hope the negative post didn't run The Hub off. I've gotten used to the advisories and would really miss the posts. We really need our Hub!!!
