[ADVISORY] WDW - MagicBand-Only Testing Begins at Disney's Pop Century Resort

Matching "Hub" on possible timing via Kenny the Pirate twitter "@kennypirate: Expect other Disney World resorts to be moved to Fastpass+ only (no active Key to the World cards) resort status after Thanksgiving."

I'm betting that a few more resorts will be added the first week of December. It'll be interesting to see if they follow the same order as FP+ testing rollout or if they do something completely different.

And with taking an opinion and making other people believe it is official, I think it may be time to stop sharing certain details.

We all know that much of this is just conjecture. At least that is true in my case. Believe me, we can come up with much worse on our own. ;)

Maybe you should have thought about that before deciding your username should be the Hub and posting advisories.

I am so thankful for the hub. Otherwise I would have been one of the pissed off Pop guests this week. However, because of this person I was able to change resorts and have access to fp- and fp+. Thanks so much!

Hi AlsGal! There is another thread with someone saying they were told many times they could get a KTTW card they can use for paper FP even though they are checking into POP. It might be a nice to post what you find out there for that OP. I'm glad you kept checking and wasn't caught off guard with your up coming trip. I hope you and your family have a great trip!! pixiedust:

Thanks!

Got to love the poor POP resort. First in August and September people are switching from their resort to POP for their stay, staying there first night there, or making a ghost reservation there in order to get MagicBands. Now the resort is like the plague with people moving their reservation to another resort.

It's like the "Poptanic"!

Mr. Hub – Until the Disney Company begins posting official announcements on this forum, EVERYTHING is opinion here, even CMs. Even when one shares their personal experiences, that is from their point of view, their opinion of the situation. Just because something happened to/for them does not mean it will happen to me. You speak like a CM and people appreciate the information - which is your opinion based on your experience to date with your job - to help them be prepared for their vacation. I shared an opinion from a reliable source that has the same opinion as you on rollout. Both of you have stated my long term opinion on rollout. Your opinion on timing is not a major leak of information, it can be stated by anyone based on common business practice of project rollouts. Alpha, Beta, Release.

I have not been surprised at all by ANY change to date and I have rarely posted my opinions - it’s not the answers folks want right now. Does posting my, or Kenny’s or your information make it true? No. If you are on a forum, you know that we are all just sharing all kinds of information to hopefully help others plan, in case of, but that none of it is “official Disney” statements nor can we go to Disney World with this information expecting anything more than being more prepared than the average guest. We can’t even go with the information we are given on the phone by a CM because every call results in varying answers.

Did I make your opinion official, NO, did Kenny make it official, NO, do I believe that you are 100% accurate and official, NO. Again, folks appreciate your point of view and guidance. It’s all just researching experiences to help plan our magical trips with “what ifs” and folks on here appreciate input from CMs! :goodvibes

Well said! :thumbsup2

Hub, you've validated many and helped many more. I hope everyone understands how tough all of this is making your daily work environment. Keep your chin up and much thanks!

Does anyone know what cards ARE currently working for FP-?

Is it:

-any expired KTTW card
-an expired room only KTTW card
-an expired KTTW card that had tickets attached

And with taking an opinion and making other people believe it is official, I think it may be time to stop sharing certain details.

You were very clear that was only your opinion on how things may progress and not a fact. Please know countless people here are grateful for your notices. Don't let one or two posters discourage you from continuing to post what you are comfortable sharing. To give a personal example....I chose to switch from Pop to another resort because legacy FP access is important to me. I would not have known of this situation had it not been for you. So you had an enormous part in potentially making my vacation much more magical. (I would like to add that I realize the resort I changed to may very well implement these changes in the eleven days before I check-in. That is a chance I am willing to take in order to use the legacy FPs. What IS 100% certain is that I would not have it if I lodged at Pop.)

I tried a kttw from 09 which was room only and it worked. I tried a kttw card from 11 that would have had tickets attached and it didn't work. Ap worked even though I used my magic band to get in

You are also correct that training has been cut back, by a lot recently. After spending some time with our Operations Learning & Development Cast Members, I am disappointed. Many of our newer Cast Members don't have any enthusiasm for this company and only applied because of the College Program and to get free theme park admission.

This disturbs me a lot. An unhappy and not well trained workforce will kill WDW faster than anything else. And this is not the first time I've heard this complaint about the workforce, Pete from the Dis Podcast also indicates that the CM's are grumpy and not well trained.

The more I see Iger cutting back on training and maintenance so he can pad the profits (and in return generate a bigger bonus and golden parachute) the more disappointed I am with him. That guy cannot retire soon enough in my book.

This. And I don't how anyone can be not nice to someone who posted because they were trying to help, and has indeed helped, many people on here. Sheesh!

Thanks, we have some KTW from a previous trip and will bring them, but they had tickets attached. Upon arrival the first day we are upgrading to annual passes, so we should be good there as well.

Hey!!! Stop picking on the Hub! Most of us are very appreciative of what he/she does.

LMAO! He/she is a (frustrated?bored?annoyed?) CM pretending to be an official Disney rep. Which is a violation of so very many rules of their job. They want to post advisories, fine. They want to start spouting off how other CM feel about guests and how they talk about them? Then they've crossed the line because of how they are presenting their self.

And nice to know that all the users that have been keeping this board up to date and informed were just wasting their time because they didn't post threads called advisories. FWIW, I warned people back in Oct that this was coming and I knew what resort it was going to happen to well over a week before the hub posted this. I wasn't free to share that specific information so I didn't. I'm glad someone felt more free to post it so people knew about it before being blindsided. I also don't share the specific troubles the front lines are really dealing with because it will do nothing to help plan a Disney vacation. There is no rhyme or reason to why these issues are cropping up so no reason to waste time speculating about them or to moan and groan over them.

The advisories are simply FAQs from the real HUB, complete with the Q&A parts. Anyone with a log in has access to this information so I'm glad you are appreciative over their excellent cut and paste skills.

I am very grateful to the help on here & realize it's only opinions. I am checking in to POR on Nov 30th & really hoping we get lucky to be able to get FP-. If not, it's not going to ruin my trip. I still love going to Disney & seeing the looks on my kids faces. But I am still wishing for the magic.
