[ADVISORY] WDW - MagicBand-Only Testing Begins at Disney's Pop Century Resort

I have the same tickets and while I don't have them in front of me I'm pretty sure they are not vouchers but E tickets. I have four separate printouts for each person in my group.

Interesting...we had a willcall order (but one printout for two of us), and had to get the physical tickets. I don't remember there being CMs with barcode scanners at the entrance, but I could have missed it.

So would I take these to guest relations at any park or can I do it at POP? Could we say we want actual cards at guest relations (as momentos of the party) even though I think we can get in to the party just showing these printouts. Sorry...so many questions. Just excited that maybe, just maybe there is a chance at FP- for our family.
Thanks.

You definitely can't do anything with them at POP.

See my edit but I remember when they started doing this people loved the convenience but hated the fact they didn't have a "real" ticket for their scrapbook. :(

I wonder if it was because we did it early (like the day it went on sale for the very first party), and my wife chose will call. She also called DVC MS to get them, so that could have been a difference as well.

As for something for the scrapbook - they aren't the unique designs of the past - they are using the MYW card stock anyways.

I had will call tickets for MNSSHP and picked them up at the Poly front desk. I got plastic cards the same as KTTW cards. My printout said will call and had a confirmation number though.

OK, even more surprised. Usually the resorts can't do anything about tickets other than MYW tickets.

Many here are talking about cancelling on site stay. Due the timing, these might be resort only stays. If so, why would you be affected?

My understanding is that if you have your own tickets (UT or AP) you are fine as the ticket will a separate medium. You may even link them to MDE and access FP+.

Only if you stay at POP AND have tickets as part of a MYW package then you would be screwed with non-mag RFID tickets (or MBs). If so, you're 45 days are way over, or you are looking at Jan+

Or am I missing something?

I think will call was one of the choices.

As I recall the choices were send them for around $15 extra, download PDF or will call.

This may have changed when they did some updates a year or so ago.

I remember because it meant you could get your AP at a resort and some were ecstatic because they could now get their AP on a study plastic card instead of a flimsy piece of paper.

Yes I know its not paper but Tyvek and that the Tyvek tickets were probably sturdier than the plastic KTTW stock.

Remember all the old paper vs plastic threads. Good times. :goodvibes

This is my reasoning as well. It's why I cancelled our onsite stay. I think I can be much more efficient with FP- than I ever could with FP+. We'll see if that plays out in reality in December. :goodvibes

That sounds awful. To me at least. Choosing between our DVC Villa or FP+.......our big Villa wins hands down. We spend at least half our vacations at the resort.

Wish we knew that...could have saved waiting in line. ;)

They stopped issuing APs at the resorts after a short time though...not sure exactly why. CF probably knows.

Apparently now they will sell you a new AP at a resort - but not a renewal.

Are they doing it again? That was the change they made a while ago (sell new AP but not renewal), but they discontinued it after a few months. I hadn't heard about it being allowed again.

The ticket sticky seems to indicate they still don't.

The printout should be a willcall order. You need to go to Guest Relations to get the actual tickets (which will be the same green RFID cards they use for MYW tickets) to use to get into the park for the party and/or get your wristband (which I find astonishing at this point since you only ever use this card once, or are supposed to...)

I'm a bit shocked to find they can pull regular FPs, but that may be ONLY if you used it to enter the park (i.e. after 4pm, instead of using your regular admission), and then only while the FP kiosks are open (they close at 7pm). Either that or they've been "activated" much like past KTTW cards were...

I wonder if those MVMCP plastic cards (I got the plastic cards in the mail) will work for you all week at the FP- machines? Similar to how room-only KTTW are able to pull FP- all week in the parks.

I have the plastic tickets too. With so much going on I didn't want to have anything to do with Will Call. Maybe that isn't necessary but still...

Can we really pull fastpasses with the plastic MVMCP tickets?

Disney seems to be willing to shaft POP guests right now and make them their guinea pigs to test their system. So weird they are doing this with just 1 resort and it has now been a week since it started and no word of adding more resorts or giving POP guests back a KTTW or FP card. With Disney playing POP guests right now, I say good on those guests if they can get FP- some other way (old KTTW, room only KTTW, MVMCP plastic cards, etc.). Lets just make this live for all resorts and get it over with.

I'm so confused!!! I have called 5 times and everyone says that we can absolutely opt out of the magic band test and get the old KTTW card. I even spoke to a manager at pop and told her the first hand accounts I'm getting on here and I was assured we would be able to get the KTTW card that accesses the old system. I've got her name so if she's lied she's going to hear from me. Either way I'm getting my KTTW card! Lol I will accept the fact when FP+ fully rolls out that we have to deal with what we've got, until then seeing people grab up all the old fastpasses while we get our measly 1 Eticket ride a day will burn by butt!!!

I haven't finished reading the thread yet, but just to be sure everyone understands: You ARE completely able now and forever to opt out of the *magic bands*. The problem is you are going to get a RIFD KTTW card which will not pull legacy FP. Opting out of FP+ means opting out of FP altogether.

A lot of people who don't know much about the system would have to notice the FP- machines. They are so obvious!

So what happens if people staying at Pop notice them and try to use them? I would think that that kind of confusion would be worse than letting them know that they can't ahead of time.

Of course there is no real way to know how much people know about the parks or try to find out while they're there. My family members who have gone and haven't heard of the DIS or have asked me a thing all used fastpasses. I can only go by them.

you've never been in th efastpass line and heard people in the standby line talking about how "it's some pay thing" or something like that?

People will see FP- and the CM's say "but you have the new and improved FP+ where you get all 3 of your FP's before the park even opens- if you dont have them get all 3 of yours hear at this touchscreen FP machine right now. You dont have to bother schleping to those old style machines all day long to get your second and thrid fp" How is the "normal person going to have a clue that the other resorts are getting BOTH FP+ and FP-? How many people that never heard of FP (- or + version) will even know that FP- people can get MOR ethan 3 a day?

Dont you have friends that know you as "the disney guru?"- I suspect many of us here do. I know everyone of my friends, family, and co workers seems to know to ask me for advince how to handle their upcoming trips. The numbers of them that are clueless is amazing. My kids soccer coach is leaving for a trip with his family THIS WEEK- and knew NOTHING- not a thing about MB's or FP+. My kid told his kid and so the coach asked me. I had to explain it all- I know they've been before. I dont even know if they used FP- in the past.

WE ARE NOT NORMAL guests.

I will be arriving at Pop in 10 days with a room only reservation. I don't have an AP or UT tix, I was planning to just buy park hoppers when I get there. I'll be able to use those to get FP- right?? And if I link then to my MB, does that make my ticket unusable? I'm so confused...:scared:

I have seen these people but I doubt that the vast majority are that clueless. I suspect that most people fall somewhere between us who try to know everything and people who don't have a clue.

As for those people you know who are going to WDW this week, are they staying onsite? If so didn't they get magic bands? If they are offsite it's not necessary for them to know about MB's and FP+.

As long as you get a separate physical ticket you can pull regular Fastpass with it, whether you link it to the MB or not.

At least for now. Who knows how it will change... :confused3

Disney appears to be trying to close "loopholes" these days too...
