[ADVISORY] WDW - MagicBand-Only Testing Begins at Disney's Pop Century Resort

Just to understand--did the manager say you could OPT OUT of the FP+ and get the regular KTTW or did they mean you would be using both? When you go, can you let us know? This is what I think they should be doing---if the present system is a mess because of the double dipping, then let people opt OUT of FP- until things are all set. You cannot tour at Christmas or Thanksgiving without regular FP as the system stands now.

Also, what is happening with Swan/Dolphin--do they have a choice or do they have to use FP-? That is the resort I'm beginning to think of switching to--you would still get EMH but could potentially just use FP-.

Thanks!

We were told we could opt out. So only KTTW. Fine by me!

Yeah but we got in on the free dining offer. I can't even switch to a moderate because that would throw everything in a tizzy.

I don't want the bands, but I guess the card is ok. I don't want to be tracked around the park with statistics noting how often I go to the washroom, how long I am in there, if I go to the restaurants, how much I spend, do I zig zag across the park, do I keep to the right, etc. Yes, I know Big Brother is watching but I find the whole thing disturbing. I figure if I get a card, I can put it in a RFID blocker case and go my merry way. If I don't link my charge card or annual pass to my card, I can at least retain that much of my privacy. And of course there is always cash instead of plastic.

Has anyone staying at Pop tried to use a paper or RFID ticket in the FP machines??

I am wondering if I can use my AP (which is linked to my MB) to pull legacy FP's when I'm at Pop.

All reports I've read state that you can pull legacy FPs by inserting your AP.

Thanks! I'm going to try it with both my AP and my sisters' 10 day no expiration ticket from UT when I'm in the parks in two weeks. I'll report back.

I left today and used my AP and my MVMCP ticket to get fp's. We couldn't do FP+ because DD didn't have a regular park ticket.

Yes, you can opt of the MB's, and get a KTTW card, but that now at POP the KTTW card you receive is the NEW RFID KTTW card and not the old technology. This is only being done at POP for the testing. So yes, you will get a KTTW card, but I would not be expecting it to work to pull FastPass-. If they were giving out KTTW cards that worked for FastPass- it would defeat the purpose of the test at POP.

I would just be expecting to not be able to access FastPass- unless you switch resorts, no matter what they are telling you on the phone. They have a reputation for the right hand now knowing what the left is doing.

Even better are the guests being told they can't even opt out and MUST use a MagicBand...

No, you can opt out and not use a MB, but you will be given the RFID version of the KTTW card that will not work to pull the legacy FP's. If you are at Pop, don't want to change resorts, and traveling during the peak Holiday weeks, it would be more than likely be in your best interest to opt for MB's. That way you are guaranteed at least 3 FP's you have already reserved. Legacy FP's will probably be gone very early in the day during peak holiday weeks.

Read post #580 in this thread. There are multiple realities it seems.

And just as an FYI -the KTTW cards at every Disney operated resort are RFID. The difference is that these aren't authorized to get FP at the kiosks.

Hey, according to Touring Plans you can still more efficiently tour the parks with FP- than you can FP+.

This is my reasoning as well. It's why I cancelled our onsite stay. I think I can be much more efficient with FP- than I ever could with FP+. We'll see if that plays out in reality in December. :goodvibes

How did you use the MVMCP tickets to pull fast passes? We just received printouts with barcodes as tickets for the party. We are at POP and it would be wonderful if we could use those tix to pull fastpasses. Thanks..

The printout should be a willcall order. You need to go to Guest Relations to get the actual tickets (which will be the same green RFID cards they use for MYW tickets) to use to get into the park for the party and/or get your wristband (which I find astonishing at this point since you only ever use this card once, or are supposed to...)

I'm a bit shocked to find they can pull regular FPs, but that may be ONLY if you used it to enter the park (i.e. after 4pm, instead of using your regular admission), and then only while the FP kiosks are open (they close at 7pm). Either that or they've been "activated" much like past KTTW cards were...

I have the same tickets and while I don't have them in front of me I'm pretty sure they are not vouchers but E tickets. I have four separate printouts for each person in my group.

ETA: remembered they sent me a PDF and at the top of each page it says this is your ticket and not to go to will call.

So would I take these to guest relations at any park or can I do it at POP? Could we say we want actual cards at guest relations (as momentos of the party) even though I think we can get in to the party just showing these printouts. Sorry...so many questions. Just excited that maybe, just maybe there is a chance at FP- for our family.
Thanks.

I have the same tickets and it should say at the top "this is your ticket" and also do not go to will call.

Not sure how you can turn it into a real ticket.
