Advise needed from a loveable Ursula sized woman

I ride BTMRR with DGD all the time, she only rides coasters if she can hold my hand. The difference in size and the lap bar is no issue. She stays in the seat and is perfectly safe

Physics. If there's a shared lap restraint, it's not there to actually physically hold you in. It doesn't matter if it doesn't come down touching the child's knees.

I think tonight I'll sit in the floor with a chair beside me and attempt to get up not using my knees, only my arms and feet. Would this be a pretty good test to see how redic I would look climbing out of space mtn? bahahaha

That is about right! You'd need to sit flat against the wall with your legs bent and chairs on both sides. It is quite awkward.

I had to think about how I get out of it for a second but I use a combination of my arms and pushing with my legs until I get 1 leg under me to stand up. It's not smooth by any means and there might be more arm involved. I'm going to be so self conscience in a couple weeks when I figure out the answer to this If you see a tall person, not really skinny look at the seat funny figuring out how to get out, it's me.

That is about right! You'd need to sit flat against the wall with your legs bent and chairs on both sides. It is quite awkward.

OP are you going with someone else? If I get out on my own I probably look ridiculous. I can do it but I have to use my arms to slide up the seat and get my leg under me to get out...

Or my husband who is much skinner then me and gets out of things easier will just get out and then help me.... Much faster with him there

Nice to know its not just me. I'm very petite and I almost was not able to get out of the car at the end of Space Mt. I was starting to panic. I went on alone and there was no one to help me. My arms are very weak, I have bad peripheral neuropathy and I just couldn't pull myself out of there! I won't be able to ride it again anyway due to neck and back problems. But jeepers it was hard to get out of there!

Aww if it helps, riding in the front of SM is nearly a different ride than the back. So much smoother. I always ask for the first car, and the first seat or two if I can. I get whiplash in the last seat of the second car!

I want to bring to your attention an incident that occurred a couple of years ago at a Six Flags in Texas. A larger woman fell out of a giant coaster on the steep decline because the restraint (even though working as designed) could not hold her in. Her torso was just too large and her legs too short for the restraint get in the correct position on her lap (it couldn't reach her lap). It was one of those T-bar restraints.

This won't be an issue on any WDW rides but if you plan on going to any other parks that have the "giant coasters with steep declines" please consider the restraint carefully and make sure it will work for you before you ride.

I was in the first car, second seat. I don't even want to think how bad it would have been in the back, then! I just can't, it is just too rough. I cannot ride on BMT, either. That was one of my very favorite rides. It's just too rough, and I was in there alone, and I'm tiny and I was flying all over the seat, I couldn't really hang on and stabilize myself. I ended up with bruises on my hip/leg. Maybe if I was in there with someone else to wedge me in there more. Still, on both of them, it really bothered my neck, so I just shouldn't.

Are you talking about this story? Because...it was a malfunction with the car...as far as I can tell. It talks about the same "pop" noise being heard with a 16 year old riding the ride weeks before. Not really related to her size...It says the attendant thought maybe the safety bar wasn't quite as tight as normal, but the indicator light said everything was fine.

I'm a woman of size and have risen on every ride at Disney. The only ride that was a struggle, and I won't bother again, Sum Of all Thrills. It barely closed over my chest and my hips really didn't fit in the seat well. I'm a bit smaller than your stats but no other ride was even close to not fitting

This. If you can't fit comfortably inside your dishwasher, or if you can't squeeze into your microwave, you may have problems on Sum of All Thrills.

I have been on trips for 10 years with a friend who is 5' 5" and at one point topped 300 pounds. She was a size 28-30. She could not fit in Sum of All Thrills and she found getting in/out of Space and Astro Orbiter to be snug, but not impossible. I don't have any feedback on sdmt.

I'm sure the op appreciates your help and your are not a Debbie Downer! However, this absolutely was a ride malfunction and is not something the original poster should be worried about with regard to her visit to Disney World. There is always a chance there could be a ride malfunction when anyone rides a ride. Of course, it goes without saying that no one should ever try and trick the restraints or do anything to compromise their own safety.

It's the lap bar that makes the seven dwarves ride uncomfortable....the seat is fine. I went with my friend in January/February of this year and my guy friend who is 5'10" 325+ lbs. fit, snugly on that ride. We were able to fit on BTMRR just fine (I am short, 260 lb range, size 18/20). Space Mt. is a set of 3 cars, though each car accommodates a single rider.....I you have a big backpack with you just slip it on over the lapbar and hold on! We were able to do all the rides we wanted to without any problems I hope that you have a great time!

Aww. Happened to my ex (see her stats a few posts above.) she rode SM once and had the same issue getting out. Her tshirt was snug and rolled up on her and half her torso came out exposed to the world. She's like ahhh help me! Lol funny looking back but I'm sure embarrassing for her.

I used to weigh 334 at 5'6" tall. I had no issues with fitting on any ride at WDW. Seven Dwarves Mine Train didn't exist. Fast forward to today, 140 lbs. lighter and the ONLY ride I had an issue with was the stupid mine train. I fit, but it was an uncomfortable fit. Honestly, I don't think it's comfortable for any adult!

I'm 5'7 and at my last visit was about 355lbs. I haven't tried 7DMT, friends that are smaller barely fit in. I don't generally try ones that I know would be tough to get out of, Space Mountain, etc. BTMRR works fine. Most of my weight is in my stomach, so I have had a couple problems with Haunted Mansion recently, being juuuuust shy of getting the bar to close. I found if I stand up just a little, I can get it to close and then it's fine.

I will confess Space Mountain is a slow disembark but nothing I can't handle.

I am 5'11' & average weight in good health & I am slow to disembark on SM too!! I can pop in ok, but for whatever reason I can not get out without some thought & usually just about falling out of the car on to the platform. It makes me feel better though cause I see many other folks doing the same thing so I am not the only uncoordinated klutzy one!

As for the Mine Train I think only little kids are comfortable. It's hard molded plastic seats with no give. I swear would a couple extra inches really have been impossible to add? But for a few minutes it's fine.
