Our daughters got perthes disease and we have a wheelchair as she can't walk long distances so we need to take this wheelchair with us.
First time we've any taken one abroad so any help or advice is grateful, will I need to inform Virgin I am taking a wheelchair? and anything else I need to do??
Much appreciated :goodvibes

Hi, we have done this the couple of times with our DD. Yes notify Virgin they will help you out greatly. You have the option of wheeling her to the door of the plane then they will stow it. Also if that is what you do they will have it waiting for you when you arrive at the other end. May have a small trip in a airport chair but they will be waiting for you at the door non the less. If you are staying on site no problems on the disney buses. Anything else you may want to know give us a shout.

Thank you :) also do you know is it apart of our luggage allowance (stupid question alert*) Many thnx :)

Any airline I went by its free to bring the wheelchair on they do not include it so you will be aloud your normal luggage allowance:)

good luck.xx

last time we went we took a Disabled buggy, this time we are taking sons wheelchair.
his chair is a normal wheelchair with a support seat in it for him. so will be interesting to see how we get on at the airport as it doesnt collapse.

when you booked there should of been a section that asked if you required airport assistance. we ticked yes, then were sent a form to fill in regarding what assistance was required.
virgin are very helpful and have a dedicated phoneline to call.
as mentioned before the wheelchair is in addition to any baggage allowance.

the disABILITY section on here is great and there are loads of useful tips.
if youre worried about anything just ask.

we're going in May so will let you know how our trip goes. :thumbsup2
