Hi. We are going on disney cruise next Feb and thought we'd spend a day at DL after the cruise. We've never been to DL. The ship docks really early so we were thinking of going straight to DL after getting off the ship, spend the rest of the day there, spend the night and then fly home the next day. I just don't know if it would be worth it. Any opinions would be appreciated! :)

We're planning on doing a similar thing after our cruise in October. The difference being, we are DL veterans and we are just going to spend the day at DCA seeing all the new renovations and Carsland.

For February, you can certainly do DL in one day (don't do California Adventure). It's definitely worth it. Especially if you know what you want to do. February hours are probably shorter, so you might be able to make rope drop, but they will close relatively early. Hotels around the resort are very reasonable for one night's stay.

My husband and I went for just one day last week, for our anniversary. We had a great time. Disneyland is the perfect resort for a one-day visit, as everything is so close together and you can do so much. I don't think you'll regret it if you go.

Totally agree with everyone else. I have done DL in one day SEVERAL times (Even added in DCA too in a 1 day trip). If you just focus on DL, you should have no trouble seeing a whole lot of the park. February shouldn't be very busy so you can probably really make the most of the time. I say go for it.

What day of the week? As PP said hours are shorter during the week in February.

In my experience at WDW and DL, you can get a lot done even when the hours are shorter. The park hours are directly proportional to the number of people in the park.

When we went to DL last week, the hours were 10:00 to 8:00. I couldn't believe how short that seemed, especially after going this summer when it was 8:00 to midnight (or 7:00 to midnight when we had MM).

But we did just as much, if not more, with the shorter day because the lines were consistently short or non-existent. My feet even hurt as much as they did after the 15 hour day! :)

We disembarked from the cruise and were inside Disney by 11am - even after dropping off luggage at hotel (stay close by like the BWPPI).
We had a big bfast on the cruise so only had one meal a late lunch/early dinner.
May I suggest a true DL experience like PLaza Inn or Carnation Cafe.

I think you def have time to do everything if you tell yourself you won't wait in any line for more than 20min. Just skip by any long lines, use fastpasses for Space Mountain, Indiana Jones & Star Tours. And you don't waste 3 hours staking out a spot to wait & watch F!. Go through Pirates, Big Thunder & Hounted Mansion near the end of the day - lesser lines in my experience

Skip F! - get close to the hub for fireworks and it will be a magical day :thumb

thank you so much everybody...I was leaning against it because I didn't think we'd have enough time but I think we will consider it now. :)

I agree. I was just pointing out that they needed to consider what time they'll disembark, travel/traffic, check into the hotel/get to park. If I was disembarking on M-Th Im not sure I'd pay $80 to go (plus the cost of the hotel) unless I was getting to the park at a decent time. If they are disembarking on a Friday-Sunday it's a no brainer.

We are doing a MR cruise in Feb '12 as well, disembark on Sunday. We can't wait for this trip! DH and I spending 2 nights after at the GCV, getting a 2 day hopper. :thumbsup2

Ummmmmm - well in a word -- YEAH!!!:cool1:

But of course you are asking among the most dedicated Disney enablers there are! :lmao:

We went on a 7 night cruise out of Orlando in Dec. of 2007 - flew in around 4 on a Saturday night, and STILL went to WDW Magic Kingdom that night before having to get up early for the cruise the next am! (I got some great convention tickets however- but still!!!)

The better question is how could you not go??

Which cruise are you on?

We're doing the Feb. 12 MR cruise next year.

We're going to Disneyland on Friday and Sat and then boarding the ship on Sunday. We were going to do it the other way around, but the 20th is President's day so we figured the weekend before the cruise would be less busy than the weekend after.
