Advice on where to stay?

When DH and I went to DL last year we stayed at the Ramada Plaza on Katella. We both agree it's a little too far for walking distance for us at the end of a full day...

a friend recommended the holiday inn on walnut...she said they found a way through Downtown Disney that was about a 10 min walk...the walk from the ramada was about 15 mins...any thoughts on the holiday inn would be great.

Also, just any ideas in general of where to stay that's close walking distance...we'd like to keep the hotel under $100/night if posisble (we do have AAA for discounts).

any advice is welcome! thanks!

ETA: After looking at a bunch of places, and working through the sticky Judy mentioned--we're thinking of the BW Anaheim Inn--anyone have any experiences with it? Thanks!

Our first trip we walked to the Holiday Inn on Walnut and you can cut through DTD but it is still a really long walk at the end of the day. We had a 2 and 5 year old in the double stroller so it was doable.

Anaheim Plaza and Hojo with Ent. rate are your most inexpensive on Harbor and only 8' walks.

Update in the OP--we're looking at possibly the BW: Anaheim Inn

does anyone have any reviews for it? From what I found I can't see a reason not to go there, but I'm open for any experiences anyone wants to share. We don't plan to spend a lot of time in the room, so it's mostly just for sleeping. The free wi-fi is a definite plus, as is the fridge (we want to pick up stuff for breakfast to keep in the room when we get there)

thanks!

OP, I don't think that's the Best Western directly across from the gates, but you might want to look into that one. I think it's Best Western Park Place. It seemed like a pretty good all-around place, super close to the entrance.

We are staying at the Park Vue Inn when we go next month. We've never stayed there before, but I picked it because it's really close to the entrance, has free parking and free wi-fi, and has a good free breakfast. Also because we have two kids and one of their room options is a queen with a bunk bed, so they don't have to share a bed.

It was $90/night plus tax, so right at about $100 or a little more per night incl. tax.

Lots of people like HoJos too, especially with the Entertainment Book rate. However, I didn't like that it doesn't offer a free breakfast and it's a tad bit farther to walk.

The anaheim inn isn't the closest...but it still looks close...like a 5 min walk, maybe?
