Advice on transfer times please!

Hi everyone, haven't posted on this part of the site for a while but I just booked again this morning!

So our flight into CDG lands at 16.20 at T3, would a 16.58 train be too optimistic? The next train isn't until an hour later and I'd hate to be sat around when I know I'm only 10 minutes away.

And same question for the journey back, would a train that gets into CDG at 15.45 give us enough time to get through security etc for a 17.00 flight out of T3?

The plan is to travel with just hand luggage.

Also, if our flight outbound got delayed would we have to buy whole new tickets for the later train? or is it possible to get them transferred across?

Sorry for lots of questions, everything else (except parking at Leeds/Bradford airport) is sorted so it's just this last hurdle!

I think you're pushing it both ways to be honest with those times.

From T1 and T3 you need to take the CDGVal internal train to the TGV station then come down the escalators to the train platforms.

I'd factor in one hour from scheduled landing time to getting the TGV at T2 from T3, even with hand luggage. Thats why we don't often take the TGV from CDG to DLP now, we take rstransport shared shuttle (and usually don't share) instead.

For a 1700 flight out of CDG, I'd want a TGV at around 1500, no later. TGVs can run late, we had a right old panic last trip when our TGV (which was booked for 2 hours before plane departure) ran just under one hour late, so we ended up having to take a taxi at peak travel prices to make sure we got there in time for the plane.

I wouldn't chance it with those times way to close for comfort. The airport is huge and there are some very recent changes to some of the areas which are confusing and not well signed. It can take ashes just walking from one point to another.

Oh bugger :lmao:
Theres a big gap in TGV's from DLP to CDG, so it'd be either getting in at 13.11, or the 15.45. So I think it's time to rule that out really, which is a shame because I love a french train!
And I suppose the later train (on the way there) would mean a less stressful journey, not worrying about a slight delay etc. I'd still like to get the train there because by the time we've waited for a VEA then done the journey we might as well have taken the later train.

So it's either VEA back, or get a shared shuttle (would a return be cheaper??). Never done a shuttle before, and I was supposed to get the VEA last time but instead got in a weird taxi who said he'd take us there for the same price as the VEA (not my wisest decision, but we got there in one piece!).
I'll read the sticky on getting there and shuttles and price it all up, it's my Mum's first time so I don't want things goings drastically wrong lol.

Thanks for the advice!

I've priced the tgv and was going to book it too, but it just seems like too much hassle to try and time/navigate.

We ended up going with Ezyshuttle and it was a fantastic service. When we got through security/baggage, John from Ezyshuttle was waiting with our name on a sign. We didn't need to worry about navigating the airport. On the way back, we were dropped right at the door of our terminal, again no wandering to do. Fantastic service and very stress free :thumbsup2

We've come round to the idea of a shuttle, just trying to decide between rstransports or ezyshuttle. Haven't heard anything negative about either, and I could get quite excited about the man holding up our names on a sign like we're celebrities (it really is the little things in life...).
Like I said, its a shame really, but the trains just don't seem as regular as they used to be.

I'd go with Ezyshuttle..... Used both and had bad experience with rs, but Ezyshuttle were punctual and friendly....

Im all for RS. We have always found them cheaper then VEA and yes we had one small issue last year but thats all in 7 return bookings and it was traffic related.

We used rstransports (got back yesterday) and overall they were fine - we booked shared shuttle and didn't share when they picked us up from CDG but we did share on our return back to CDG which we didn't really mind.
They sent a text during our hol to say what time they'd collect us for home.
They were a few mins late picking us up from CDG (no real problem) and on time coming home.

My only issue with them was lack of car seats- when they picked us up from CDG they only had one for my youngest (3) and not eldest (6) and it was only a small booster not high back seat like they have to have in England.
Coming home they didn't have any car seats at all for them.
I had emailed in advance to confirm they would have car seats and they said yes but then didn't. Is this a general thing in France!? As I noticed the drivers didn't wear seat belts.

Thanks for the feedback on shuttles, it may just boil down to price in the end. Really need to get a shift on and book since its only 16 days away!
I think Ezy came out slightly cheaper than RS when I initially checked but I've had such a busy few days I haven't had chance to really look at it.

Will look at it all tonight after work. We've decided to book a suitcase as well, I'd hate to see something magnificent when I'm there and have to leave it because of weight/size restrictions. And then Airport parking and I'm finally done! Apart from travel insurance... (Maybe I need to make a list :rotfl:)
