Advice on Booking and Changing Reservations

I recently bought a resale at OKW, and the points will be (they had been banked points) will disappear in February, I am now in the closing process and waiting for the paperwork to go to Disney and get into the system.

I also have points at VWL, and have some left over for my current UY, but was planning on banking them and using them for a big trip in the latter part of 2006 (along with my 2006 points).

Here is my question, can I make a booking at OKW and use my VWL points, but then when my expiring OKW points are in the system, use those points instead and return the VWL points to my account. It would only be a partial return since I would still need about 10 of my VWL points for this trip?

Is it possible to do that?

You can do that provided there is still availability at the time you want to cancel and rebook (since that is technically what you are doing), if the resort is full, then when you cancell your reservation it would go to the first person on the waitlist and there wouldn't be any availability for you....it seems odd but what it prevents is people who own at multiple resorts from scamming the 7/11 booking windows.

Normally, if you make a reservation using points from one resort and then try to re-allocate using points from another resort, you will have to cancel the first reservation and rebook. If there is no waitlist for those dates, there will be no problem- but if there is any waitlist, the cancelled dates will go to the first member on the waitlist.

However, since you plan to make the reservation using non-home points anyway, MS may allow you to do as you ask - just be prepared that the reservation may need to remain using the VWL points. Another concern would be that if you try to re-allocate within 30 days of arrival, the unneeded VWL points might be placed into the Holding Account and thus could not be banked into the next Use Year. You may want to run all of this past MS before making any elaborate plans- to make sure you understand all of the issues involved. (It may be better to sacrifice or try to rent the OKW points rather than to roik losing some of the VWL points.)
