Advice: Nickelodeon Family Suites

We just booked 4 days here in August at $94.50 per room (including the resort fee) - I got it through the Entertainment Book. It's the 2-bedroom Kidsuite and that will be half-price. :cool1: The $79.50 1-bedroom suite was sold out at that rate...and I just got our book a few weeks ago. Yikes!

I had to pay for the whole 4 nights upfront, so it came to $540 altogether. I'm pleased with the rate...and the kids will eat free. ;)

WOW -- that is quite a deal.. I have the Entertainment Book... I may call and check it out... although we are going in June and everything may be booked for then.

Hello all.

Sorry the delay on my update for our hotel stay.

So our stay at the Nick Hotel was for Dec 2-5, first week of December.
The crowds at the Nick Hotel were non-existent. The pools were empty which was very nice. The character dining was also empty which was great as we didn't have to wait for the characters to come to our table.

Nice pools and water slides for both the toddlers and older kids.
Our first time at the pool area, the water on the slides was not heated.
And the water did have a smell/funk to it. To much chlorine maybe?
(Nothing that deterred me from not wanting to be in the pool, just a heads up.) While the slides were not heated, the pool was and it was very nice.
The following day though and thru the end of our trip, the water slides were heated. Don't know, maybe someone complained?

The hotel itself, well, I've stayed at better "lower rated" hotels than the Nick. For me, it was the little things that turned me off, attention to details if you will. Screws missing on light switches to where the switch plate is hanging by a thread, the chain lock on our door was missing a screw, the blow dryer would work for about a 2-3 minutes before it died and you had to let it recoup, sofa was dirty and stained, if you flushed the toilet, our sink in the living area would gurgle. I'm sure there is more but I'm drawing a blank right now.

The twin beds for the kids... wow. I felt for my kids, I really did.
Those beds were so unbelievable hard, it was like sleeping on a floor.
I could not believe how hard and uncomfortable the twin beds were.

I thought the staff was great and very helpful. Not once did we feel ignored or like we were bothering them when he had questions and needed help.

So to summarize, I'd give this hotel 2/4 stars. I wasn't sold on it to the point where I'm going to rave and tell everyone I know that they have to stay at this hotel. At the same time, our stay wasn't that bad to the point where I would talk anyone out of staying here. It is one of those things where you have to form your own opinion. Who knows, maybe your room won't be as bad as mine and that will make your trip that much better.

If you are booking this hotel for your kids and can over look the minor things I pointed out like we did, then you'll be OK.

the actual hotel room is nothing to write home about. The mattress are hard for sure.. Now everything else is cool. we go every summer for one-two nights for the kids. Normally near the beginning of the summer. I have always gotten a great fla resident rate so I cannot comment on paying too much for this hotel. I always go during the week so its not as crazy as the weekends. This past time we rented a cabana and that was pretty awesome as we had our own place to eat and hang out while the kids were on the slides. I would definitely do that again. I brought all of our food and only ordered a pizza out one night so we didnt do the buffets, etc..

Come to think of it, the teens gave up on the pullout in the living room. They ended up sleeping on the floor the last 2 nights, the 17 yr old said it was the worse mattress he had ever slept on. Which says alot, he has been to many basketball camps at various colleges and let us not forget the cheap mattresses Disney used to have in the living areas of the DVC units. Even so if you snag $79-99 per night its a fun hotel for the kids.

Can anyone tell me what restaurants (besides the food court) are within walking distance of the Nick Hotel? We are not getting a car and I'm just wondering how much food to bring along to make for ourselves as opposed to eating out.

There is nothing to walk to. Bring what your going to eat or prepare to eat on site.

We've stayed there, the food is what you should expect from a Holiday Inn, plus the food court. I had a steak one night and broiled fish another, it was good, others in our group ate the buffet (dinner) and said it was eh. The kids loved it though and this place is all about the kids.

The breakfast buffet was was OK to good, if you're watching funds, eat that meal in the room. We ate lunches pool side and don't recall anything about them. This was a 2 day before the "real" vacation stay, this place is perfect for that IMO.

This is my big questions: Is the Nickelodeon Hotel enough for 4 days on its own?? My two boys - 1 will have just turned 5 and the other just about to turn 7 - are Nick OBSESSED and I can't stress that enough. The characters, the slime, the humor...they love and get it all (much to a parent's dismay. LOL)

We do not want to do Disney b/c we went recently and do not want them to think Disney is a "regular" vacation...it's not for us. We only plan to go every 2 or 3 yrs. We already have two other vacations planned and don't really want to spend a ton of money and the Nick price is right for a getaway celebrating their birthdays.

The rate I got for Mar 9-12 was $823.52 incl taxes.
This incl: 1 Character Breakfast for the 4 of us
Daily Breakfast Buffet
One Pizza and other stuff from UNO
Unlimited 4D
1000 Arcade Pts

With air from Philly the total vacation is: $1681

So...will we be able to occupy ourselves, have fun and relax without wanting to leave the property for 3-4 days?

Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts (or alternate suggestions!)

Where did you get that rate? I am looking right now for around that same time.
To answer your question really could you take 4 days of it all!
My 2 oldest were just thos ages last year when we went. They also love all the Nick stuff. I am not sure they would want to just be there for 4 days. But there is lots to do. we always had at least 2 days during our trip to plan on hanging by the pools and stuff.
I am sure they will keep busy, will you be leaving the hotel at all to go other places or just be there 100%
I would not want to just be there 4 whole days, lots I mean lots of kids, lots lots of noise. yes we have gone 3 times already and will go back since the kids love it so much but for me 4 days would be too much.We stay the week but 2 at least 2 days or parks and then we go out to eat and shop too

Thanks! We'd be arriving Tues - have Wed & Thur - and then leave on Fri. Maybe we should look into Universal for one of those days. I'm hoping it won't be quite as crowded by going during the week.

As for the rate - I actually got a cheaper rate when I called this evening and went through all the discounts with them. The cheaper rate is through AAA and the for the air I used USAir although other airlines were slightly cheaper.

Thanks again for the reply!

Thanks I will check with AAA I also have an entertainment book that has it listed so I will check that

Now that I'm thinking about it...I think the cheaper rate was the Entertainment book!

Good to know! Your kids will have a BLAST. The first time we went the kids were younger like just 3 and 4 1/2 they begged to go back! We went last April 08 and March 09 and at one point we were in Disneyworld and they asked when we were going back to the hotel! They are begging to go again end Of feb. If we can get a good deal we will see!
