Not a disney topic but I'd appreciate some help!
I'll be travelling from the Washington DC area to Rollet, QC - I believe that it is close to New Liskeard to the South and Rouyn-Noranda to the North. I've gotten directions from mapquest and mapblast and AAA - they each take me a different way. I'd like to hear opinions fron anyone who has actually driven this route before. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks so much!

Never driven this route myself -- not sure why anyone would want to really. However, it looks like your best bet would be to get to Toronto by whatever route is best and then head north on Highway 400 to Barrie, onto Hwy 11 towards Orillia and then keep going north towards North Bay and onto New Liskeard where you would switch to Hwy 65, crossing into PQ near Notre-Dame-du-Nord. Enjoy the drive -- you'll see some gorgeous parts of Ontario along the way, but watch out for the moose. Those things take on transport trucks and one is left to wonder who got the worst end of the deal at the end of it.

I've driven parts it, but not as one trip. The way I went was from Washington to Ontario (crossing at Massena NY) From there you go on the 401 East to the 416 (both of these are double lane) Take the 416 North to Ottawa, and continue on when it turns into Hwy 17 (which becomes a single lane highway) Keep going till North Bay, then head North on the Highway to New Liskeard, and keep following the signs from there.

Royal Canadian is right about the moose. They are abundant up in Northern Ontario. Several times when I have driven in that area they are close to the road or on the road. Unless you are familar with the road and area I would not advise driving this area after dark. A beautiful animal, but you do not want to tangle with it!

I am assuming you are driving this in 2 days? It is quite a long trip if you are the only driver. When I drove the Washington to Ontario part it was about 13 or so hours I think. The Ontario part will be at least 8 hours I would think. Traffic along the single lane of the 17 can be very slow at times, and I know there is some construction going on there this summer, so that will mean more slow downs.

Good luck, enjoy the scenic route, Ontario has some beautiful country side!

If you have any more questions fell free to PM me, I am quite familar with the area.

Moose??????? I thought you said MOUSE! heeheehee! S
