I hope i'm posting this in the right place! I'm new to the DIS and in the process of planning our first trip to WDW. I have a family of 3 (2 adults & 1 child) and neither of us have been to WDW. We have decided to take our trip 5/16/11 to 5/23/11 and to stay at a one of the value resorts and purchase 7-day park hopper tickets from Undercover Tourist.

Now that the easy part is done it's time to decide which value resort to choose and the details of our trip (dinning, rides, attractions, etc). :surfweb:
We originally chose Pop but recently received a pin code for the dates we are travelling and Pop is sold out for pin use. Only Movies & Sports are available for pin use during our dates.

In your opinion which value resort is best for first timers? Why?

Which would you choose Movies or Sports? Why?

Is there a way to reserve Pop with my pin even though the site shows it is not available for pin use but it is available if no pin is used?

Any suggestions or advice you have to offer to make this a pleasant trip for my family would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance!

First welcome to the disboards. You will learn tons of helpful information.

Second, I would call Member Services and ask if you could reserve the Pop with your pin. If that is not possible, I would read the threads about the AllStars Movies and Sports resorts. Both have their plus and minus factors. Personally, I like Movies better. The theme of the resort is much more to our liking. But, I have read great posts about Sports.

Third, read all threads about the AllStars and then ask more questions. Enjoy your visit.

Welcome! As previous poster said "call"! They are always so willing to help and can help beyond the computer! I also like the themeing of Movies better but my boys like sports better, of course! We've stayed at both several times! Have a great time!

I agree with other posters, call and see if you can get Pop with the PIN. Otherwise, the three Allstars are alike as far as amenities go. The difference between them is mainly theme. They all have the same layout and the rooms are basically the same (except for Music which has the family suites.) One other difference, although you didn't mention Music, is that they have nightly movies at the big pool. I don't think the other two have anything like that.

Keep looking at this board. You will find much great advise that help you plan your vacation. One piece of unsolicited advise: If you are planning a sit down or character meal - book it now.

Enjoy your trip.

Thank you all for welcoming me to disboards! Your advice on the various value resorts has been very helpful. I will give member services a call to see if I can book Pop for our travel dates with the pin. If not, I will choose either movies or music.

Update: Pop was booked :sad2: so we ended up booking our stay at Music :) Of the 3 All-Star resorts I liked Music the best. When I did my inital post Music was not available. It became available at the time of booking :yay: So we have our trip completely booked (air fair, hotel, tickets, trip insurance and dining plan). Now time to schedule ADRs and construct a touring plan.

Thanks again for the info.
