Thanks for all the input everyone! Not going to the front of the line is fine with us - she specifically said she didn't want special treatment and would be embarrassed if she got bumped up to the front ahead of kids, or anyone else for that matter.
I think we're gonna do the scooter. The prices with Apple come out to just around $21 a day not including tax, which is a sound investment if it saves her that much discomfort and makes the trip more enjoyable. She'll also be able to keep up with the rest of us, which she wouldn't be able to do with a walker.
I really appreciate your comments!
I too have bad knees and other mobility issues. I rent a scooter that is delivered to my resort and it is the best thing I have ever done. I can fully enjoy the parks and the resorts without having the pain not only during the day but disturbing my sleep. Getting on and off the buses is a learning experience but really not that hard. We have stayed at POP and fit two pride revo scooters in our rooms to recharge at night. We just had to move the table and chair over a bit. if you only have the one when you bring it into the room and park it right in front of the window you will still have plenty of room. I bring a power strip so I do not have to reach down every night to plug in. Another thing I do is bring a back pack as it fits right over the seat and is great for carrying my jacket for cool evenings or mug for end of the night drink before I head back to my room. I also carry a plastic "walmart type" bag to place over the controls if it rains and I always put the back of the seat down when I park it to avoid having others sit on it as well as to keep it dry for those quick Florida showers. Have a great time on your vacation.
