We are heading to WDW Dec. 9-15 of this year. We have only been one other time and that was in October (which was GREAT)! I was wondering where the best decorations were, what kind of clothes should we pack, is the weather usually warm enough to swim and of course crowd level. I would appreciate any info or advice. Thank you very much.

December is a great month to visit WDW but the weather is unpredicible. The best advice is to check the weather websites right before you leave to see how many pairs of pants and sweatshirts to pack.

Some years it was hot and no need for our winter clothes and others we REALLY needed them, even our winter coats from Boston!

The deocrations are GREAT! They also pipe in Christmas music.

All the resorts are decorated and each park is with a Tree lighting ceremony at each park.

There's the Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party on select nights for an added cost but it's well worth it just to see the Christmas parade!

There's the Candlelight Processional at Epcot every night.

There's the Osborne Lights at MGM.

So much to see and do. Very festive.

The crowds aren't bad at all in December.

Crowds should be light. Usually you will be fine in shorts and t's but I always take jeans and sweatshirts and jackets in December - just in case. And we usually end up using them some anyway - especially evenings - Illuminations and such. We did got MVMCP one evening last year that I wore a pullover and about died I was so hot. Good thing I had a T-shirt on under it so I could take it off. It's usually warm enough to swim and the pools are heated so you might get chilled between the pool and your room. Overall you're going at one of my VERY favorite times of the year. Have a great trip. The decorations are awesome everywhere....but I really liked Wilderness Lodge...it was definitely worth the afternoon trip over there for it.

Oh, that is my favorite time to go :goodvibes There are gorgeous decorations everywhere. They really do it up right for the holidays, its truly magical.

We usually go in December (because I love the decorations :lovestruc ) and every time we go the weather is different. I have spent an entire trip in shorts, and entire trip in jeans and a sweatshirt, and last time we needed to wear our coats. December is so iffy when it comes to the weather.

I will advise you to not just go by the weather forecast. Last time we went in December it said it would be in the high 70's in the day and low 60's at night. Well, it went into the low 40's, and it never felt like it was ever in the 70's. So, just be prepared for anything  We never wore any of the shorts we packed.

Have a great trip :flower:

Thank you all for the great info. We watched something last year on the travel channel about WDW at Christmas time. We couldn't wait to see all beauty that Disney seemed to create. We are surprising our dd 4.5 and ds 2.5 with this trip!! We can't wait!

For our December trip we checked the weather every day preceeding the trip. And they were calling for low 70's and mid 50's at night. Well, I packed only one pair of pants and one sweatshirt for each of us. We absoloutly FROZE! 3 out of the 5 days were only about 40 degrees. We ended up buying blankets for each of us to bundle up in while walking around the park! It was so funny to see the pictures and show them to our friends. They were all like...ummm.....why are you all bundled up in blankets on the dumbo ride in FLORIDA???? My poor kids, I insisted on packing light as to only lug one suitcase, so most days they had to wear all their clothes I packed and layer them! It's a good thing we stayed at a villa where we could wash clothes every day! :sunny: Hope your weather is warm. By the way.....the other two days of our trip were beautiful, perfect park weather, 75 and sunny!
